Ok so you live in Australia, or you just can’t, for the life of you, find some stump remover. Well kiddies here is the solution, sodium nitrate. I did research and I invented this process, it is all my creation.
Sodium nitrate is a strong oxidizer and is as strong as potassium nitrate. It can be made from house hold items. It is also a preservative in hot dogs lol :P
Materials:
Baking Soda (NaHCO3)
Ammonia Nitrate (NH4NO3) (found in instant ice packs, just cut them open and take out the round balls/BB like things)
Hot Plate
Pyrex container or pot of some kind .... tin can...... what ever, you get the idea.
250 ml of water or a cup of water
A scale or, a ruler that you made into a balance. :)
Procedure:
1.) Put the water in your container
2.) Add the baking soda and the ammonia nitrate in a 1 to 1 ratio (or 48% baking soda and 51% ammonia nitrate if you want to be exact) into the water. Add baking soda first.. that way it will go into solution easier, ammonia nitrate will have an endothermic reaction with the water.(it gets cold)
3.)Stir it..... it wont bite :P
4.) Now put your solution on a hot plate or on a camping stove. The solution will release ammonia(NH4-) and carbon dioxide(CO2). Although, these are not bad for you I advise you do this out side. Keep boiling it till all the water is driven off. Turn down the heat towards the end of the boiling process.
5.) Scrape the crystals/powder off the pan and put them in a jar.
When you boil the solution the Ammonia bicarbonate breaks up into (NH4+) and (HCO3-) but, the sodium nitrate doesn’t.
52% percent of your original ammonia nitrate and sodium bicarbonate will be the amount of sodium nitrate that you create.
Trouble Shooting:
(PROBLEM) My powder doesn’t do shit.....
(ANSWER) You didn’t fully drive off all of the ammonia bicarbonate, so just put you crystals on a pie tin and put that in the oven at 230 degrees F for about 20-30 min.
END NOTE
This stuff is 16% lighter than potassium nitrate, so when your looking at formulas for gunpowder always add 16% to the amount of potassium nitrate.
Um yeah..If ur gunna have NH4NO3 at hand you mind as well use that. It’s a much better oxidizer than NaNO3
But newayz if you cant even get a common oxidizer like that..just move to America. 0**

The problem with ammonium nitrate is that it is too powerful of an oxidizer for things where KN03 is used; it’s more suited for explosives rather than combustibles.
Overall it’s a great egg, more pics would have been nice, but it’s still fine the way it is. 5*

I LIVE IN THE USA AND I HAVE KNO3..... but this is cool for people who dont. Also this shit isn’t as hazardous to your heath as NH4NO3 or KNO3.
