Well, i am a ’graffiti artist’ from England, and i have seen a few graffiti eggs but none of which the writers seem to know what they are doing, lol. So here goes.
Step 1 (Choosing A Word) ~ Before everything, you must start practising a tag. You should do yours in pencil and have a rubber, im doing mine straight into pen because its quicker..And i dont have a pencil :P Anyway, see Below.
I have just done a quick alphabet, when you write letters, or words like this, it is called tagging, or ’Handstyles’.
After i did this i chose my favourite letters which are ’KONZ’, Konz is my tag anyway, so i will be using that as an example, these are just the letters that i feel i can do well, yours will be different.
After i have chosen my letters i will write them as a word...
After you have chosen your word, and written with it (mess around until you are happy) you can start to spice it up...All i have done here is add a crown (which is basically 2 M’s with circles at each point) a little scribble with an arrow, and the year, and as you can see it looks much better!
Step 2 (Learning To Piece) ~ When you are actually desiging, or drawing graffiti, in block letters, it is called ’Piecing’, and the graffiti is called a ’Piece’ rather than a tag. There are other types of pieces such as ’Dubs’ and ’Throw-ups’ but i wont go into that.
The 1st part of creating a piece, is looking at your tag, or handstyle, and seeing how you have written the letters there. This can be a big help, as you have something to look at.
Here i have just done a K and an O to save time. I have constructed a VERY basic letters, anyone can do this given a bit of time, paper and a pencil. Dont get angry if you cant do it or it goes wrong, just keep looking at your handstyle and try to match it up. Try different techniques, im not guaranteeing this will work, its just whats worked for me, so dont be scared to do your own thing.
Now you have a basic letter, again you can spice these up aswell. Each and every graffiti artist has his or her own individual style. This is what you need to understand, that yours isnt supposed to look exactly the same as mine, or anyone else. So if you fancie trying somthing new, DO IT!
To spice your letters up you can do anything from adding stars, to putting arrows and extra bits of lettering here and there! Here i have still used the original shape, but i have added arrows to the corners and jagged square bnits coming out of the letter.
After you have done that you can add other bits to it like bubbles or random lines etc...
Right, last of all i will show you how to do 3D.
3D is almost essential to some pieces to make them look that little bit better, so heres how to do it. 1st you will have to decide which direction you want you 3D bits to go. Then, you must draw lines, from all of the points, in that direction. (all the same length) and join the lines up, by immitating the letter parallel to it. As you can see i have shaded in some of the 3D bits to add to the effect :) I have only done this for 1 letter as im getting tired! lol.
Using these techniques and practising, i came up with this 10 minute job :P

Nov 26, 2006 7:45 am - im going to criticize your stuff a little bit. your tag actually looks sloppier when you add on that dumb crown (which everybody does and kinda makes you look like a toy) and the arrow (its a scribble like you said, just looks bad), but your tag in general is good. i also like your style for your peice. the only thing i dont really like is hos every letter...i dont know how to say it, but like, is the other letter. like there’s no lines between the letters. and your arrows aren’t the same style as your letters. for example your arrows are very curvy and your words are boxy. but this is a really good egg, and im not trying to be a bitch by criticizing, just trying to help you out. 5*s
