This egg will show you how to make high grade gunpowder using the ball mill method.
What you will need.
1.sulfer
2.Salt peter (aka,Potassium Nitrate)
3.Charcoal Powder
4.Scale(to weigh your chemicles)
5.Ball Mill(i actually use a old Rock tumbler there the same thing)
6.Lead Balls(THEY MUST BE LEAD)
The Fourmula for Gunpowder is, 10% Sulfer 15% Charcoal powder 75% Salt Peter (i already have it mesured out on grams for you).
Step 1. mesure out 20 grams of sulfer or 10%, Then put that in you mill
Step 2. Mesure out 30 grams or 15% of Charcoal Powder then put that in your mill.
Step 3. Mesure out 150 grams of Salt Peter (Potassium Nitrate) or 75%, then put that in your mill
Put all those chemicles in the mill with you lead balls
(they MUST be lead because they are non-sparking)
Step 5. Start it milling for at least 3-4 hours
Step 7.When its done milling open up the mill and seperate the balls from the powder.
Step 8. Your done, go do what ever you want with this very fine powder :)

Dec 23, 2006 10:16 am - thats meal powder, for black powder you have to do about 3-4 more steps. gun powder consists of nitrocellulose (single-base powders), frequently combined with up to 50 percent nitroglycerin (double-base powders), and sometimes nitroglycerin and nitroguanidine (triple-base), so this isnt gunpowder, OR high grade blackpowder its meal powder

Dec 23, 2006 4:03 pm - ^Im not sure if there is any easy way to find sulfer, but you cant find saltpeter at almost any hardware/home inprovment store, just look for stump remover, thats pure saltpeter. you might have to grind it up in a coffe grinder.
Dec 23, 2006 11:46 pm - Ahh, you missed a lot of points. Such as charcoal, you can’t expect to use briqquete or firefox charcoal and get good "gunpowder" black powder. The charcoal is the most variable ingredient. Also, don’t forget to press the BP, thats what makes the BP good and lift quality.
Also, you can’t use a crappy postal scale, go to Ebay and invest $15 and get a digital scale.
You also forgot that if the BP inside the mill were to go off, there would be lead shrapnel. I would list more shit, but this egg is so basic, it just has pics and good BP should be milled for a LOT longer. If it makes a nice poof/whoosh then it’s done.
Dec 24, 2006 12:29 am - ^^Um, the charcoal i used is a very good quality, not some shity kind. and this egg isnt about making lift powder you retard, or else the name would be "making lift powder" lift powder requires a lot more steps, and yes i could use a more acurate scale, but thats all i have so i make due, and about the BP going off in the mill, thatS why you use LEAD BALLS since they are NON-SPARKING with makes it impossible to go off in the mill, and i said at LEAST 3-4 hours, Meaning a minimum of 3-4 hours

Jan 11, 2007 9:33 am - making saltpetre Hey u can make saltpetre if u have animal shit and a bucket what ya do is u put the shit in the bucket then u pee in it till the bucket is full and let it stay there for 5 months then strain the liquid until u have a bottle full. All you do know is cook it up on a low temp elect burner and guess what little white crystals!!!!!!!!!!
Oh and note it stinks like crap but its 99% puresaltpetre what more could ya ask for.
Mar 27, 2007 2:34 am - this is good but i need slatpeter i can get sulfur its the easiest thing to get its in most plant shops in australia but kno3 is hard.. anyone tell me a source they know of i can buy in australia i would appreciate other wise ill stick to AP i love the stuff its powerful and loud when set off. mainly a detonator ingredient but it works if u put it in a straw or little container and a spakler for a fuse
