Alright, I’m only posting this because ErrorGuard has taken out ad space here at rotteneggs and it’s a very malicious spyware program made by some serious assholes. Also, I didn’t see any other eggs on it.
Ok, ErrorGuard claims to be a anti-virus program that has a squeaky clean and professional looking "Windows XP" logo and it’s advertisements on the site will auto-load on standard IE settings, in a lame attempt to fool people into thinking it’s part of a Windows Update. However, the program can begin downloading regardless and acts along the lines of other serious spyware programming by sharing computer information online for the company’s own monetary gain. This is an invasion of privacy and can turn into a huge headache as it can slow down some computers, especially older ones.
To get rid of ErrorGuard, I recommend downloading and running Ad-Aware by Lavasoft, which can be downloaded for free through download.com. You can scan your computer and quickly remove all the files, which Ad-Ware lists as a Level 10 threat to PC’s (their highest level). I’ve enclosed a link to the main page, in case anyone’s leery about trusting some random guy on the internet. You can see the editor and users ratings are very high.
Ad-Aware Download
Also, to avoid downloading it again, if you’re running Internet Explorer, you can download Mozilla and block banners (and also not install Flash) to avoid future encounters.
End Note: I’m sure some are going to flame this egg or myself and feel free. I know this isn’t a prank, but I think it’s important that people know about this since they advertise on this site in a really shady manner. Hopefully weasel can talk to his advertising site and lodge a complaint against ErrorGuard, since it ruins this site. |
