Today I’m going to show you how to fashion your very own duct tape wallet. Now the first time i made one it sucked and i didn’t get it right till i made 2 more so it takes practice, but well worth the time spent. so let’s get started.
STEP 1. Get your supplies.
A razor blade
Duct tape
a clipboard (or some hard surface you dont care about scratching)
scissors
A ruler
a pen (optional)
STEP 2. Start pulling the duct tape and measure up app. 8.5 inches
STEP 3. Cut it off.
STEP 4. lay the strip of duct tape on the clipboard sticky side up and cut off another of the same length and overlap them on like this. Make sure that at least a centimeter or two is overlapping.
STEP 5. Continue to do this until you get a big square of duct tape 8.5 inches by 7 inches
STEP 6. Start laying duct tape sticky side down onto the duck tape make sure there are no holes of stickiness.
STEP 7. Continue to do this until you get something like this.
STEP 8. Start to trim every side with the razor blade to make a nice smooth edge.
pull off the edges like so.
once you are done with ALL the edges your work should look something like this.
STEP 9. take the sheet of tape and begin to fold it make sure your folding it hot dog style (for lack of a better word)
STEP 10. Now line up the sheet as straight as you can and with the razor cut off any imperfections.
STEP 11. Now take a sheet of tape and lay it on one side of the wallet like so.
STEP 12. Now put another sheet of duct tape on top of it so you seal the two sides of the wallet shut.
STEP 13. Cut around the side of the extra duct tape and make sure there is a little on the side to hold the wallet together, lookat picture.
STEP 14. Do the same thing to the other side.
STEP 15. You wallet should now look something like this.
STEP 16. Measure the length of the wallet and find the middle of it, mark it with a marker or pen.
STEP 17. Now if you want to add a card holder for license etc. here’s how. Measure 2 pieces of tape to 2.5 inches.
STEP 18. take the two and press them together to make a small slab of duct tape, (there should be no sticky side.
STEP 19. take the slab and place it on the wallet in the desired spot. Make sure your holder isn’t going past the middle marker you made with your pen!
STEP 20. now all you have to do is tape the card holder down on all sides except the top of course and test it out to make sure your card fits in it.
STEP 21. Make as many of these holders as you want. In my wallet i have 3 two are on the right 1 is a see-through one. you can make a see-through card holder by using the same steps except with CLEAR packaging tape (scotch tape won;t work as well.
Here is my completed project!
if you haven’t been Christmas shopping yet you can make one of these instead. Once you get the basics you can experiment with different colors and sizes.
