Wii homebrew
If youve been online with the wii you know that you can buy cames from the virtual console but why pay for games when you can get em for free?
heres what you need to get emulators running on your wii:
Action Replay (for gamecube)
SD Card adaptor (for gamecube)
Soldering iron (if you dont have the adapter^^)
SD Memory Stick ( wii or non wii)
your Wii
First things first, im guessing a majority of people who want to do this dont have an SD adaptor so im going to teach you how to put one together.
if you plan on ordering a sd adapter, continue to step two.
Step 1: Making the SD adapter 1. you need an SD reader and a gamecube memory card. if you wanna order a reader you can get one from molex.com (direct link to product)
if you dont wanna order it, you can make one from scratch.
2.get something with enough pins to touch all the pins on the memory stick if you have an old ata hard drive laying around, use it. it works nicely.
Gut whatever it is your using as an SD reader so your left with the pins and a bit of the board.
Put your SD card between the pins and make sure it fits snuggly. If not, add some paper so its touching the pins more.
next, were gonna have to do some soldering.
it doesnt matter if you ordered your SD reader or decicded to make your own, heres the pinout diagram.
Pins to solder: Name/// SD card/// gc memory card CD/DAT3 //// 1 /// 9
DI /// 2 /// 5
VSS (earth) /// 3 /// 2 or 10
VDD (current) /// 4 /// 4
Clock /// 5 /// 11
VSS2 (earth*) /// 6 /// 2 or 10
Connector Data /// 7 /// 7
once youve soldered your pins youll have something that hopefully looks better than this
now to make it smaller. get some tools. lol i said tools.
were gonna have to cut off all the shit we dont need from the memory stick and the board we used. if you ordered an SD reader, dont worry about this.
take a good look at the board and cut off what you dont need
after quite a bit of cutting, i ended up with something like this
anddddddd
Step two: Memory stick prep Now, to get the games onto the console.
get your memory stick and hook it up to your computer
your gonna need a couple of files with SDload so we can play our games.
get sdload HERE and load up all that shit onto your memory stick.
once youve loaded it up, run sdpatch.exe
this patches your memory stick so it can be recognized by your wii as a gc memory card.
type in "sdpatch.exe (drive letter):/ " (without quotes, of course) and youll be set. load it up with emulators and games
and get ready to party.
Step three: Action replay load up action replay and chose to create a new game.
enter SDLOAD as the game name and enter one of two insanely annoying codes.
First code:
name: M
code:
7YPR-RKZZ-MH6W5
D26A-PE4J-1XX2W
ZJHY-B1ZH-6P00G
after you enter that in, we can continue with the second code.
name this one SDLOAD and enter the following:
this code process is a one time thing, so dont get stressed out. IF it says the code is incorrect, dont give up! check the code numerous times and if you can, get different people to check!
the first time i put it in i had a decent amount of errors but after my brother and i went through it we fixed em.
Step four: Playing your games put your action replay memory card in slot b and your SD adapter into slot A
load up action replay and choose your newly created game SDLOAD
make sure that the SDLOAD code is checked as well and boot it up.
open the tray and close it like it asks to. You can keep action replay in there, it doesnt matter.
Now SDLoad should boot and your set.
Enjoy your free games!

Dec 27, 2006 12:54 pm - Uhm, it’s only like five bucks to download games on Wii through Virtual Console.. Why go through all this trouble? But, because you took the time to make something like this, I’ma give it 3*s even though I don’t see the rationale.
Dec 27, 2006 6:31 pm - OK so this is quite outragous. Do people actually go out buy this expensive ass shit then take it apart and fuckin do this shit with it. wow what a waste of money. 5’s.
Dec 28, 2006 11:27 am - YAY, soldering!
Hands down, this deserves five stars and it’s great seeing people avtually get their feet wet and work the ol’ iron.
Dec 28, 2006 3:34 pm - Sorry that too many people around here are too dumb to understand this. I’ll give you 5* though. I had a debate with one of my friends about how dumb it was to pay $5 for old games on the wii. Good egg.
