This egg is going to show you how to broaden the tip of a decocolor or any fine point marker for various reasons. I do it so that my tags come out bolder and bigger. You might also want to do this to simply get more surface coverage.
This works best for paint markers. I found that with sharpies and other felt markers it doesn’t turn out well because there isn’t enough tip to make a good cut.
Materials:
- a fine point marker (I will use a decocolor marker but it has already been cut (you’ll get the idea anyways))
- scissors
- a knife
- hand-eye coordination
Step 1:
Take your fine point marker (brand new works the best I find) and take your scissors.
Cut the tip as shown in the picture below.
If you cut it longer it’ll be a smaller tip (not much but smaller). If you cut it shorter you wont be able to get as much paint out of it. The length shown its the ideal length.
Step 2:
Take your knife and drag it lightly on the top of the tip towards the edge of the tip.
You might not be able to see to well in the picture but I did move the knife towards the edge. It just spreads the fibers.
This is to further broaden the surface area of tip tip (makes the tip larger).
Step 3:
Draw the paint to the tip and test it.
If there are any scratchy marks do the next step. If there aren’t any, you have now got a broad tip marker perfect for tagging.
Step 4:
Take your marker with a scratchy tip and take your scissors.
You want to cut it so that there is a slight angle on the end so the scratchy things don’t make marks on what ever your drawing on.
Now just a little proof that I did this myself
Any criticism and tips for my tag are accepted but just don’t say "ur t4g sux ballz"
I hope you enjoyed this egg.
I did run this through a spellcheck to make sure there weren’t any mistakes.
I know I could’ve just bought a broad tip marker but decocolor markers don’t come in broad tips and decocolor markers are a lot harder to get off.
