Simple and Different Tattoo Machine

I would first like to start of by stating that this is a repost! I am reposting this because the images on the previous version of this egg were not working! I am even providing a link to my previous egg to show the images not working, and, to top it all off, my previously posted egg will be deleted within two days of this egg’s posting. Click
here to be redirected to my previously posted egg.

This egg is a simple guide to creating a simple yet effective tattoo machine. Please don’t downrate either because of the numerous tattoo machines on RE (I’ve researched it, there’s one egg that’s similar to this one, and it’s poorly done) or because you believe I copied and pasted. This is an my idea and just because my egg contains a hint of literacy does not mean I copied and pasted.

The materials needed are as follows:
- Common Crest electric toothbrush
- Sewing needle
- Glue/apoxe that is capable of gluing metal to plastic and metal to metal

The procedure for making the tattoo machine is as follows:
- Step one:
Remove the head from the toothbrush by twisting counter clockwise and then pulling it off. Instructions via arrows should be given on the toothbrush.

- Before advancing to the next step:
Get a view of the top of the toothbrush, it will be referred to later on.

Additionally, do not use Gorilla Glue! I have experiemented with this several times and because of the fact that Gorilla Glue expands 3-4 times in size when it dries. The expanding of the glue usually jams the toothbrush and therefore causes it not to move anymore. I recommend Perfect Glue 3, it is an apoxe, although it is not as formal as heavy duty apoxes such as JB Weld.

-Step two:
Read the directions on your glue/apoxe!

- Step three:
Mix your glue/apoxe and apply it to the needle’s base. You want it to cover about 1/4 of the needle.

- Step four:
Insert the needle into the top of the toothbrush until the base of the needle rests upon the plastic base and the side of the needle against the "metal part." Afterwards, apply glue/apoxe to the uppermost part of the "metal part" so that it touches both the "metal part" and the needle.

- Step five:
Hold the needle in that position for however long the directions on your glue/apoxe said is necessary for it to set. After it sets, leave to dry/cure for however long your glue/apoxe said was necessary.

Instructions:
Dip the needle into the ink (use the ink shown in the picture below) and then turn the toothbrush on. All you want to do after that is basically use the needle as if it is a quill and you are writing with it. You want the needle to go into your skin about 1/16 of an inch (sorry non-Americans), which is (for the morons) 1/2 of the first mark on an inch. Additionally, something that makes the tattooing process a bit easier is tilting the toothbrush in the direction that you are moving it.

This helps to stop the needle from getting stuck in your skin.

Ink:
There are two types of ink I recommend for use. One is not only easier, but I’m sure guarantees better results than the other. The type of ink I am referring to is India Ink. It is available at any arts & crafts store and even in the arts & crafts section of Wal-Mart. Here is a picture:

A second type of ink is available. It is recommended if you are dirt poor or too lazy to leave your home. You simply just burn paper and mix that with water. I do not know the ratio of ash to water, but even if I did know the India Ink is highly recommended.

Lastly, do not use any other inks unless you know they are untoxic. Pen ink and other toxic inks have a very high risk of causing disease.

Needle preparation:
Firstly, a simple way to sterilize a needle is to soak it in rubbing alchohol for several hours. After doing so, hold the needle within a flame. This should burn off all of the bacteria.

Secondly, do not share needles! It’s pretty obvious why, but doing this also creates a very high chance of obtaining a disease.

Thirdly and lastly, here is a shot of a tattoo i drew on myself. I’m not a huge fan of tattoos, although I at least wanted a little one. The one in the picture is a tiny smiley face. It’s still in the healing process, although you can see the design.

First of all, every tattoo egg consists of a guitar string, a motor, an eraser, and a hollowed-out pen case. Congratulations PyRoMaNiAc, you’ve earned zeros on everything of yours. Also, do you think you’re cool BeCaUsE yOu TyPe LiKe ThIs? Have a happy new year.

is it just supposed to spin or go up and down cuz mine just spins 5* if you answer me

GEOFFOLICIOUS

Dec 31, 2006 4:06 pm -
If yours spins, your specific toothbrush doesn’t apply to this. I’m sorry. It’s supposed to move up and down so that the needle moves in and out of your skin.

I know it’s a copy, but if you look at the previous link, the pictures don’t work. I talked to a few people and decided it was reasonable to repost it. Additionally,

No what? If you’re saying no because I previously said it was a copy, I mean that it was a copy of my previous egg.
