Alright, this egg will show you how to make your very own basic musket with materials that can be easily obtained.
Materials:
-PVC pipe (one that a marble will be able to slide into perfectly)
-A marble (your ammo)
-PVC pipe end cap
-Duct tape
-500 matches
-A vicegrip
-A hammer and a nail
-A fuse from a firework
Alright, so you have all your materials. First off, lets make the musket. Take your pvc pipe. You can cut it to whatever length is appropriate for you. I have a 2 foot one and a 5 foot one. Put the end cap on the pipe and secure it with duct tape so it doesnt ever fly off and hit you in the arm or something. Alright, now take your hammer and nail and make a hole about 1/2 an inch from the end of the pipe where you put the cap on. I only used a hammer and a nail because I didnt have any small enough drill bits for the power drill; you want this hole to really small, just big enough for a fuse to slip into. Your basic musket is now complete! You can add on other things if you feel like it, like a stock or whatever.
Oh wait! Now heres where the matches come into play. Your matches will act as a sort of gunpowder. Take your vicegrips and set them so that you can grip a matchhead with them. Put the head of the match into the vicegrips and squeeze, but not too hard. Just squeeze, turn the match, squeeze again. Its kind of hard to explain, but this gets the head of the match off without getting the wood underneath it. Do this to all 500 matches and collect the heads in a bowl or whatever. Now you’re gonna need to crush this into a semi-fine powder. Do this however you want to, I used a mortar and pestle.
Oh, you will also need a ramrod as well. This is what you use to load the musket and to compact the powder. I simple used a golf club shaft with a cork stuck in the end of it.
Loading: Now to load your weapon. Pour about 1/4 of your powder into the muzzle (thats where the bullet comes out of), stick the fuse into the hole you made with the nail, then pour the rest of your powder in. Take your ramrod and ram it down the muzzle and compact the powder and make sure the fuse is stuck pretty good and doesnt fall out or anything. Now put your marble into the muzzle and give the musket another ramming, but dont ram the fuck out of it. Alright, now your musket is ready to fire. Take aim and light your fuse.
Heres a link to the video. I didn’t know what was going to happen cause the was the first time I tried making a musket, so thats why I didn’t hold it. Oh, and we only used 300 matchheads for this shot, didnt have enough patience to do 500.

Jan 26, 2007 5:12 am - shit dude thats pretty cool, but the pvc wouldnt be as strong as steel tube and steel would be way safer, it would also be better to use gun powder 2*
Jan 26, 2007 5:24 am - Don’t worry, the PVC pipe is strong enough to handle it. Its what we use when we make filipino boom makers, which make a loudass boom. I know gunpowder would DEFINATELY be way better, but a lot of people don’t have access to that, including me.
Jan 26, 2007 11:15 am - pretty good man id make it except it takes ages to get the match heads cuz i live in ireland and havnt got access to gunpowder 5*
Jan 26, 2007 5:57 pm - You should try usin somethin like Black Powder for guns like what they would actually use but if you cant get it, then matches will do lol 4*
Jan 27, 2007 6:14 am - Thats bullshit, this thing will not explode in your face. We’ve used it plenty of times now with up to 500 matchheads and the musket is still secure and not loose.
