So many of you may be able to think of 1000 different pranks to pull on someones car some of which ruin its appearance, others may do serious engine damage. But the ones that really screw things up havent been posted on an egg until today.

Sure you can put popcorn into the muffler or balogna on the paint but the solution is obvious. Now i will describe the pranks for obvious damage that show difficult, pricy solutions.

Ruining a Car’s ECU (emissions control Unit). So your douchebag roomate leaves his car at the apartment for the weekend and you want revenge for what hes done? Why not unscrew the Engine computer backing plate, spray some water in there and toss in a few used condoms and some silly putty on the heat sinks? When you screw it back together, be sure to strip out all of the backing plate screws and mounting screws with a dremel tool to make the repair bill even worse.

Ruining a Car’s A/F mixture (air to fuel mixture). So the legend in this is that a car will not run better if you simply inject more fuel. It needs to have adequate air supply to even be able to burn that fuel. The engine in a car will not run correctly, efficiently or sometimes at all if it cannot get the correct air to fuel mixtures. The consequences for running an engine too lean or too rich can be very bad. The MAF (mass air flow), IAT (intake air temperature) and oxygen sensors all keep the engine running clean. The MAF is located right after the air filter box and is usually a flap system in the tubing to measure the cubic volume of air being sucked into the engine. put in a little bit of epoxy resin into the flap system to screw things up a little bit. Spray some WD-40 all over the sensors within (IAT) and cut a quarter sized hole on the bottom side of the air intake tube leading to the throttle body. This will make the sensors think that the engine is sucking in a lot of air but it wont be able to make an accurate guess on how dense the air is. So it will reset to a default setting over and over to try to guess how warm the air is. much of that air will be lost through the hole and the engine’s RPM will race and not be stable. The fuel mixtures will vary between lean and rich. A rich fuel mixture will ruin the catalytic convertor and confuse the 02 sensor and eventually ruin it. A lean fuel mixture will burn out the catalytic converter eventually. A catalytic convertor costs from $150-$350 depending on the grade of design. A new MAF sensor will cost $60-$500 depending on the grade of design as well. When the car is brought to a mechanic, they will immediately see the hole in the air intake and figure it to be an easy fix and they will replace the $10 hose only to have it run even worse and rack up more bills for further engine work and hours put onto it. A new 02 sensor costs $30 (horrible one) to $150 (good one). The IAT sensor is included in the MAF usually.

So you want your friend’s car to have a catastrophic meltdown but you dont want to be around to be a suspect for when it happens. There is no reason why you shouldnt vandalize his timing belt. This keeps the camshaft/valves in the right tune to the rest of the engine. If the belt slips or snaps or gets offbeat than you can bend valves and sometimes ruin pistons which can cost thousands and thousands of dollars. The easiest least obvious way to do it is just to loosen any tensioners that may be on it. If it has no tensioners than cut the belt halfway with a dremel tool. If you dont have one than put a little bit of epoxy resin onto a few patches of the belt. Eventually it will get enough out of tune that it will slip and rape itself in a mid-high rpm.

Myths about cars. A larger exhaust diameter will not necessarily give you more power. It will allow more exhaust flow during high rpm driving which will give slight improvement in top end power and fuel economy but your car wont necessarily run faster or quicker. If you want better torque in the low-mid area of the powerband, a smaller exhaust diameter is better.

Air intakes, people who install a cold air intake figure 1 of 2 things. Some people figure it adds insignificant horsepower (sometimes correct) others figure it adds noticeable power changes (also sometimes correct). It really depends on how you set it up. Longer pipes for an air intake system can allow more power if done correctly. If you use alot of sharp corners in the piping and hard angles than thats just more resistance against the air for the engine to deal with. Shorter air intakes will provide less power in the mid-high powerband. A longer intake gives more air velocity because more air volume is being pushed in with a larger momentum. If the throttle body suddenly closes and opens again than a quick gain of power will be noticed. So CAIs can give no power and CAIs can give noticeable power changes depending on how you set it up.

I hope at least a few people found this interesting. Its alot to read but these things will help you vandalize and customize.

the secondary photo provides is of a MAF sensor. You simply take off that air filter (1 screw) and spray an oil based substance all over the wiring and sensors inside of the tube and it will get chaotic readings and never be the same again.

thanks i can guarantee it 100% that this info is accurate and anyone whos accidentally tried to clean their MAF with wd-40 can confirm that it bites the wallet hard.

lol, i like that acura man, funny shit, all this seems accurate

i had an idea it would take some work, but it would be very funny, and very harmfull, lol

ok put gas in the windshield washer fluid tank, and splice into the ignition and make the pump come on when it starts, then have an ignititer, (like the one off a gas stove cause i think they automaticly light it and detects when lit so it stops igniting) then there windshield will be lit on fire, and prolly the whole car, that would be funny

certain concentrates of windshield washer fluid are flammable. It depends on what you buy. IT wont be flammable enough to burst a car in flames but it has enough alcohol in it that if the fumes were in an oxygen rich environment than you could get it to light quick. that would be a hilarious prank but consequences from that are much worse. These pranks are things that could be mistaken as an everyday problem with the car which will keep you out of alot of trouble.

Good egg! 5************* Great knowledge aboot cars....catalytic converters suck to repair......its like $275 for my car......and the first shop we went to couldn’t even diagnose what was wrong with my car since it didn’t give an error code.....the guy was cool enough to refund our money for it tho.

You know what you’re talking about, you’ve explained it well too, *5.

My only suggestion is that on your next one, use more pictures/diagrams (possibly a separate one for each prank/myth), and use something like PhotoBucket or ImageShack so you can post them in the body of the egg (instead of at the heading).

ill post pics in the paragraph body for the next one to clear any confusion. The problem is that if you dont know what an oxygen sensor looks like in the first place and how to remove it than reading a 1 paragraph guide with pictures wont help much. Ive actually got another 8 engine/ecu pranks that i didnt post because they are too mean. And they are new and innovative. Ill reform all of this info in a few months and repost a better one with more pictures.

These automotive eggs work in conjunction with your previously acquired information. I show you all the overall information on the concept. I dont truly think that theres anyone stupid enough to look at the MAF and say "gee i wonder how it unplugs" because theres always a big obvious cord with a clip coming out.

yeah i know. I might take a break on my next one but i might do one on how to install a performance exhaust system once my new one arrives in the mail. At least they arent c/p and im at least happy that a few people find them interesting. Theres a million and a half things i could teach people to do with cars but if my system doesnt arrive in 3 days than ill write an egg on something else.

Not bad... Only found one possible problem, unless you can clarify it for me....

Wouldn’t the engine suck air into the tube through the hole, thereby causing the MAF sensor to read less airflow than is actually there, causing the engine to burn lean, and increase RPM?

ill read it in detail later, but i looked over it and isnt this from mythbusters? and yes i know u cant rly c/p from from a tv show but ill rate it l8r when i read it.

on mythbusters they put bleach into the oil and it separated it all out. It would be impossible for you to find a mythbusters episode previous to the creating of this egg that proves that i have even remotely stolen an idea from them. Sure the engine will suck in air through that hole but you need to remember that youve already screwed up the MAF sensor and mostly everything that runs the car’s fuel injection and enhances the emissions output. So if you do this than if the MAF sensor gives a lean reading than it will run even more lean. An engine running lean wont increase alot in rpm. It will just burn up the cat. Some newer engines have systems that can diagnose vacuum leaks and if you give it a vacuum leak while screwing up the MAF than it may run extremely extremely rich (1:25 rather than 1:14.7) depending on your atmospheric pressure and elevation.

if you cut the hole before the ISV (idle stabilizer valve) than theres a chance that it will recover and idle fine. If you cut the hole after than the ISV will determine that a smaller amount of air is being sucked in than really is and the engine’s rpm will race and if its an automatic than when they put it into gear, the car will act funky and the throttle will be extremely sluggish and non responsive.

Ecu = Engine control unit ecm = engine control module.
Your obviously learning but some of your understanding is a bit off.
Rich mixtures will melt the converter, lean wont do shite, melt a piston or valve but no the converter.
MAF’s determine air volume or density (i cant remember and i dont care) with some sort of hot wire. Flaps are VAM’s, Vane air meters (VW’s terminology). I’m not a noitall nor trying to make u look bad. Learning is fine, the details are important though.

Ok simple solution to all of these somewhat ok ideas... What i suggest and what I WILL DO to this prick kid is just go under his engine at night and drain the oil out of his vehicle, it will lock up the pistons causing several thousands of dollars.

My friend forgot to put oil in his vehicle once and it costed him $6,000 dollars to fix it up.

I like the one about the timing belt. The timing belt of my old clunker blew when I was in the left lane of a 5-lane highway. It was a miracle I got over to the right shoulder! During rush hour! It was a bitch. 5*
