Me and my brother just got brand new kayak style rafts over Christmas and have been dying to try them out, so we drove 140 miles to the Rockcastle river in Kentcky. The river is generally recognized as a class III difficulty during moderate water levels, with at least one class IV rapid. During our trip the water level was about 480 cfs. For more information on the Rockcastle river, you can check it out HERE
The rapids on this river were very unpredictable and hard to see. Since you should never raft around a blind turn, we found ourselves having to get out quite often in order to scout the rapids from the shore. That is the reason why we managed to get so many pictures. This was the best rafting trip that I have ever been on. Now check out the pictures.
This is an over look of the river gorge.
Just as we got situated in the river we start to approach the first rapids.
My brother going through the first little stretch of rapids.
The Beech Narrows rapid. Class IV. The middle path through the rapid was creating a backwards moving keeper hydraulic, so we decided to go through a different route.
This is the side route that we took through the Beech Narrows.
Check out the video of me going through the side route.

Me hitting the next rapid after that.
And the rapid after that.
Approaching the next stretch of rapids.
Looking back up the rapids after going through.
Huge boulder in the middle of the river.
A bunch of logs stacked up high on the rocks. Evidence of a huge flood.

Bridge rapids at the takeout.
And the trip ends.
I hope you liked my pictures. If you want to see more then check out my profile because I have more rafting eggs. If you want to plan your own rafting trip then you should check out my egg on the subject.
