How to Speed up the Start Menu
The speed of your Start Menu is very slow, but you can fix that by editing a Registry Key.
And change it to a smaller value such as 0 to speed it up.
How to Rename Multiple files in one go
Now this is easy! Highlight a few items and then press F2 and rename one of the files highlighted to something else. All the files will be renamed to the new file name, With a number at the end like so
How to change the Refresh rate
Right Click on your desktop, then go Settings click Advanced and finally Monitor..Change the refresh rate to maximum as greater refresh rates provide with clear screen much less eyestrain.
How to create a shortcut to lock your computer
Right click on Desktop and click New>Shortcut
Then type:rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation
The click Next and Rename it if you like, and click Finish.
You could also change the icon to a padlock by Clicking properties and clicking properties and then paste this: %SystemRoot%\\system32\\SHELL32.dll and choose the padlock.
Apr 07, 2007 8:39 pm - ... highly reccomend max of 70 hz with a 1280x1025 resolution, 75 cuts stuff off of the screen and makes it fuzzy...yet the extremely smooth mouse scares me, im sticking with 60 cause with my monitor it looks weird....in a bad way, 5
Oct 27, 2008 9:53 am - yup, the startup menu and renaming files ones are new to me. My menu setting was at 400 too, why dont microsoft just set it to 0 to start with?? And that renaming one will come in handy too, thanks! 5*
