OK, now this is REALLY easy, and you will have the stuff you need already. First of all, you will need:
Matches
Some kind of small tube (For flare only)
Water
String (For fuse)
MAKING A FLARE
Step 1:
This is the boring bit. You need to take the matches and scrape the red bits off the ends with a knife or something. You need to do this for LOTS of matches if you want a decent flare.
Step 2:
Once you’ve done that, you need to grind up the match heads into a very fine powder. You can do this with anything really, but mashing it up with a rolling pin works well.
Step 3:
Now you need to add water to the powder. Don’t add too much or it won’t work. This will give you a kind of paste.
Step 4: OK, you’re almost done. Now you just need to put the paste into your tube (fill it to the top) and let it dry. It’s a good idea to compact it with something, cos then you can get more in, and the flare will burn for longer.
And there you have it, your flare is finished. I’ve made plenty of these and they’ve always been fine, but I dunno if there’s any chance it might explode so be careful, and add a fuse if you can.
MAKING A FUSE
Repeat steps 1 to 3 to get the paste. Then, take a piece of string and coat it in a thin layer of the paste. Let it dry, and the fuse it finished.
