Nov 13, 2007 12:43 pm - Fix firefox memory leak
When i load up firefox, it always takes up around 500mb of my 2gb total ram. After trying these:

http://lifeh cker.com/software/firefox/ ealing-with-firefox-memory issues-171301.php
http://i ternetducttape.com/2006/12 02/how-to-fix-the-firefox- emory-leak-firefox-hack/

one of them worked for me. Eventually i found out about MemInfo which is a good freeware tool that monitors physical RAM and also your pagefile. Whenever I load Firefox, I right-click it and select "Memory Defragmenter" and firefox goes back to around 60mb and stays that way.

If you know of a better way, please PM me about it.

Like I said, I only had to do this as nothing else worked but if you are having the same problem, try it out!

How does this program differ from ctrl+alt+del and selecting the "performance" tab? Just curious.

I tried Ctrl+Alt+Del before and right clicked the process tab, then firefox, then set priority > low e.t.c a few times and it would go down 20-30mb, then go right back up to 500 so it didn’t work for me =(

That’s one hell of a memory leak.
I don’t seem to be getting it though.

I’m now using opera, but if i right click a link and select "Open in new tab", is there a way to stop opera from automatically switching to the new tab? I could do it in Firefox but im new to opera so can anybody help???
