I dont know how old this is, or if anyone has heard of it, but Ive known of it for about 15 years now, so its historical to me.

You need a piece of string. Fishing line would be the best if it werent so shiny, so a black thread is what we always used. Also you need some kind of hook. Paperclips work better than fishing hooks because you can remove the paperclip easily later. You should also have a wet washcloth.

Take the string to the hook, and place the hook on a screen covering the window of someones house. Although screetching makes quite a bit of noise, it doesnt usually wake someone up, so do it while they are still awake.

Stretch the string across the street, or at a hiding place that you can keep the string taught without touching anything else. Then take the washcloth in your hand and pinch it around the thread. Rub it back and forth really slowly. You should feel the vibration in it. That vibration gets amplified in the screen, and they will come outside to see what the hell is going on. We used to do this in place of the "knock and run" techniques usually used. It keeps them wondering, and if they look out their window while youre doing it, they still wont see you.
