Note- Before i start this egg, this has nothing to do with banging any form of anus. Thank you for taking the time to read this headnote.
This is an egg on making flash powder out of very easily obtainable items. Most of these ingrediants can be found in camping stores or Walmart.
You will need:
Instand cold packs (AN)
Etch-a-Sketch (AL)
Drill or knife
Glass of water
Anti-static spray
Small plastic container
Film canisters
The Etch-a-sketch can be replaced with a Mg firestarting bar.
Step one: Safety Spray the area you are working in down with Anti-static spray. Dont go nuts, just a light spray will do. Also make sure you dont lean over your workspace while you are making it.
This bit will tell you how to get the aluminium out of the etch-a-sketch, and the ammonium nitrate out of the cold packs, and an alternitive on AL, the Mg.
AL: Drill a hole in the bottom of the Etch-a-Sketch and pour all the powder into a jar. You may notice small beads in the AL, which may make it look rather course. This is not the case, they are styrofoam beads that help make it work.
Tip all this powder into a glass of water, then scoop all the beads off the top. Make sure to stir all the AL in, some might want to float.
Filter the AL out of the water through a coffee filter and allow to dry.
Mg Alternitive: Grab your firestarter brick, and file away over a container for 12 years straight. Then you MIGHT have enough Mg for flash. Nah, It does take awhile though.
If you put slightly chunky Mg scrapings into the flash, it gives nice bright sparks off.
A Nitrate: Pretty easy, just cut the cool packs open with a Craft-razor or a pair of scissors.
Mixing: Measure out 7 parts fuel and 3 parts A nitrate. BY WEIGHT!!
If you use volume, ie: measuring cups, it WILL screw up.
Spray a plastic container with anti-static spray INSIDE AND OUT.
Pour the ingrediants into the container and shake it gently, side to side in a circular motion. If you shake it vigorously it will explode and send bits of box into your face, then you will have lost all of your flash, and face.
DO NOT shake vigorously
DO NOT store the film cans too close, about 40cm apart is ok
DO NOT store it under your bed.
DO NOT on any occasion, for ANY reason, put it in anything metal.
Jun 09, 2007 3:40 am - nice, 5* intresting. Want to see philly dudes verdict first. My geusse it it wont explode with a fuse (if using an) but if you used another nitrate it would work.
I would think that it could explode if wet kno3 with AL
Jun 09, 2007 3:52 am - The whole idea with flash, is to light it with a fuse.. i wasnt planning on creating highly sensitive powders to store in my shed.
J n 09, 2007 5:41 am - could of been better with pics. coz in the coolpacks, there are ushaly to parts to them, and they are both liquid form .... so like, uplode some pics so i under stand better
3***
Jun 09, 2007 6:21 am - No. This is shit flash powder. I have tried, several times. The aluminum in an etch a sketch is very coarse, about 300 mesh, and SPHERICAL! This will be almost IMPOSSIBLE to ignite, nonetheless detonate.
Also, ammonium nitrate is horrible hygroscopic, in 20 minutes a small pile was a fucking puddle.
I bet you didn’t know aluminum reacts with nitrates, and water is a catalyst? Yes it is. The nirate is reduced into ammonia GAS, and hydrogen gas, also heat. Can you see something bad there? Two flammable gasses(yes, ammonia GAS is flammable, not household ammonia) and HEAT. Hydrogen is also explosive if contained in anything.
No one attempt this.
Jun 09, 2007 12:15 pm - UK, you still can. He can be pwnt twice, i dont care. Next time, you pwn him. Besides, you shoulda, UK is 5 hours ahead of me!
Aug 23, 2007 5:05 pm - ahh amonnium nitrate... i ate some of that about a month ago by accident. Didnt do anything though cause i ate a very small amount... but still, im stupid lol
Nov 11, 2007 10:52 pm - nice 4* and i love it when eggs actually tell you ways to get the ingredients because it’s a little weird going out and buying chemicals that people know can make bombs.
