This is a somewhat simple scam that has been done a few times in the past, but I haven’t seen any eggs on it and decided to try this recently.
First and foremost you will need two things:
1)Cypress FX2LP microcontroller
2)2 cheap swipers
3)A blank gift card (this can be easily stolen from clothing stores, it is crucial that the card has never been used before)
Step one:
You will need to purchase the Cypress FX2LP Microcontroller, you can easily find one for around $60 and it looks like this
You will then take one of your swipers, and carefully disassemble it so that the plastic casing is removed and the magnetic strips and wires are out of the casing, take the USB connector port and connect it to the black end of the Cypress FX2LP Microcontroller.
The Swiper I used was this one:
Next, construct a plastic casing and put the Microcontroller and the Scanner inside it. The casing should look exactly like one on an ATM machine, and should fit over the original machine perfectly. It creates a kind of "shell" over the machine so that people will willingly place their cards into the machine as if they were normally using it. (HINT: Do this in an ATM at a store, as most bank ATM’s have cameras over them).
Leave it there for the day, and when night comes, come back and retrieve it. If there are cameras make sure you do this discreetly, though you should try and find a place where there are no cameras present whatsoever (ones in the mall work the best).
When you get home, connect your second Swiper to your computer and upload the software that came with it. Next, connect your Cypress Microcontroller to the computer and upload the information that was stored on it during the day. When that is done, copy the information (it will include pin numbers, names, and balance information) to the window to which your second Swiper is connected.
Now, take your blank gift card and swipe it through the Swiper that you copied the information to. The information will upload onto the card and you will have a fully functioning ATM card complete with pins and information that you can use, or sell to someone else. (Usually you can make 5 or 6 cards so it’s a good idea to sell them as it’s easier not to get caught, base your price by the amount of available money).
And there you have it, several copied ATM cards that you can clean out and use as you wish, for a mere $200 investment, you could make thousands of dollars in just one hit.
DISCLAIMER:
FOR LEGAL PURPOSES I HAVE CHOSEN NOT TO SHOW MY SHELL OR ANY OF MY EQUIPMENT. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS EGG FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME VIA EGG MAIL OR BY INTERCOM.
