Welcome this is my first egg. I noticed that you guys don’t like long eggs so I will try to make this as short as possible. here you will see how to add an administrative account to any Mac or a PC without being logged in.
Windows-
1. First start out by starting up or restarting the computer.
2. While the computer is starting up hold down F8 key
3. When the black screen comes up, select Boot in safe mode then select Restart if it doesn’t restart automatically
4. Let it restart normally and when the login screen appears there should be System Administrator account.
5. Last step. Click on System Administrator, then go to accounts in Control Panel and add a new admin account. There your done.
Mac OSX-
1. First start out by starting up or restarting the computer.
2. While the computer is starting up hold down Apple + S keys
3. When the black screen with all the words comes up then type in: mount -uw / and hit return.
4. Next type in: rm /var/db/.applesetupdone and then hit return.
5. Last step. Type in: reboot and hit return. It should restart and run you through setup as if it were the first time starting up the computer but it will leave the other accounts on for you to do whatever you want ex]change password go through their stuff, whatever. There your done.
Jul 09, 2007 2:09 pm - Vista The above coment states that this can’t be done on Vista. Well the coment is wrong! Here is how you can do the Windows process on Vista
1. Press the Windows + R keystrokes to open the Run command
2. Type ‘msconfig’ and click OK.
3. Click the Boot tab to make changes to the boot.ini file.
4. Select your default operating system
5. Select the Safe boot option.
6.Click Minimal from the list of Safe boot options.
Jul 09, 2007 2:12 pm - oops forgot to tell you in that last comment that its kinda useless to do that with Vista because you have to be logged in to RUN that comand.
Jul 12, 2007 2:06 pm - ok too bad my aunt works for state and disabled admin account on my moms computer and a laptop that i cant say where it came from
Jul 13, 2007 5:02 am - normally when you do the F8 thing the computer automatically adds an account called "System Administrator" when it’s boot up in safe mode.
