if air resistance was a constant for both objects then they would still both hit the ground at the same time. just the one thrown out horizontaly would slow down on the horizontal axis faster, due to drag.

Yes, but did you know that if you aim a gun straight up, when the bullet comes back down and hits you it has the same speed as when it left the gun?
This is in a "perfect" environment as Alle described and does not account for terminal velocity, of course. |
