This isn’t as much as knif fighting as it is an intro to knife killing. It is devided into two parts:
A) basics of knife fighting
B) targets
PART ONE The most important part of knife fighting is the knife. for example, a cheap knife will most likely crack when encountering bone, whereas a quality knife will cut right through it. quality makes the biggest difference when dealing with a folder or butterfly, as they are made up of many joined parts there are more stress points. the length of the blade is mostly irrelevant(think of the damage a simple razor blade can do), a three inch blade (legal in most areas)is sufficient to kill. the sharpness of the blade is most important. a dull blade will leave ragged edges on the cut arteries causing it to stop bleeding earlier as the unsmoothness of the cut facilitates cloting. the sharper the blade, the smoother the cut. the smoother the cut, the more the blood flows. there are those that advocate twisting the blade inside the body to maximize internal damage. this should only be done when you are sure of the quality of your knife, a cheap knife will snap in two in the wound restricting blood loss. if you hit what you were aiming at in the first place, then there is no need to twist the blade.
First off there are two basic grips, the outside grip which is the blade rising from the thumb side of the hand and the inside grip with the blade extended from the bottom of the fist.
The outside grip is used mostly for straight thrusts, which are the hardest to block and upward-rising stabs. it can also be used for slashing but as they aren’t lethal blows they will be used mostly for "softening up strikes" (dealt in preparation for a final blow).
The inside grip places the blade fush with the forearm, making it easier to conceal before the fight. it is mainly used by the untrained in a high-level downward stabing attack, leaving the vulnerable areas unprotected. the most practical use for it is in the same downward motion just when you are behind the target and he/she is unsuspecting. it can also be used in a slashing movement along a horozontal plane, side to side or forward.
There is an old saying that "you never see the knife that kills you". a person intending to kill you will never show you or threaten you with his knife. someone who does do that, merely intends to intimidate and cause fear. therefore many professionals keep their empty hand "dancing" in front of the blade. intent on keeping track of the blade, victems eyes and mind must read. the split second delays are all a killer needs to strike the finishing blow. this technique is known as the veiled hand.
PART TWO
Now I’ll describe the vulnerable parts of the human anatomy, and how to strike them. This will be divided into three parts:
1) The frontal targets.
2) The neck and throat.
3) The rear targets.
THE FRONTAL TARGETS
The front of the body offers many effective targets, and the main object is the centerline. Imagine a line running from between the eyes down to the groin. The goal is to protect your centerline while attacking his.
The Ascending Artora is the main artery that carries the blood from the heart to the brain and extremities. Stabbing downward between the clavicles (the soft spot bet your collar bones right above your chest) will sever it. Severing it will cause unconsciousness in 30 seconds and death within 3 minutes, due to the interruption of blood flow to the brain.
Any penetration done to the Heart will stop it from beating and surprise! Your dead. The Heart is well protected by the rib cage and sternum and further insulated by the lungs. It is best attacked by striking up and into the solar plexus.
A blow to the Lungs will not be fatal although it is often used as a softening up blow. A knife strike to the solar plexus coming up and under the rib cage will puncture them, making it difficult to breath and mabey unconsciousness due to trauma.
Stomach wounds are extremely painful but not immediately fatal. It is used more as a softening up strike using straight in stabs.
While not immediately fatal, knife strikes to the Groin causes pain, bleeding, and unconsciousness (due to fear and trauma. Major femoral arteries run up both of the inner thighs. Severing one of these causes major blood loss that can lead to unconsciousness and if left untreated, will lead to death.
THE NECK AND THROAT[b]
Since Neck Arteries carry the blood to the brain severing one (such as the carotid artery, situated on both sides of the neck under the ear) causes unconsciousness and dealt within seconds.
Veins carry blood back to the heart. Severing a major vein (such as the Jagular, running parallel to the carotid artery) causes unconsciousness and death due to blood loss, trauma and heart arrest.
Subclavian Arteries (running underneath and parallel to the collar bones) carry blood to the arms.severing one of them diverts the blood from brain causing unconsciousness in seconds and death within three minutes. They can be reached by stabbing downwards into the soft spot behind the collar bones.
The Trachea (windpipe) connects the mouth and nose to the lungs and is vital for breathing. Severing the trachea, while not immediately fatal, will severely interfere with the victims breathing.
Attack the Larynx (voice box or Adams apple) with slashing knife strokes. A cut larynx interrupts the air flow in the trachea. Unconsciousness and death occurs within minutes unless an emergency tracheotomy is performed.
Slashing deeply into the throat will sever both the trachea and the Esophagus (food tube). Severing the esophagus is not fatal at all, but can cause pain and unconsciousness (due to trauma and shock).
[b]THE REAR TARGETS[b]
The base of the skull is an excellent target for weapon strikes. Thrust upwards right under where the skull blends into the neck to sever the spinal cord where it meets the brain stem, or to pierce the brain it self. Instant death!
A stab to the Kidneys can cause instant unconsciousness and death. Stab them with a rising vertical strike using the outside grip.
Targeting the major Renal artery and Major Renal Vein is an effective method in causing death. These are located behind the spine between the two kidneys. To strike them you’ll have to stab through the spine with the knife held horizontally (damaging the spine in the process).
The Spine itself is an effective target. Without going into to much detail, it can be said that by striking any verbret, the part of the body below that will become paralyzed.
By striking up into the base of the skull paralysis will be caused (by severing the spinal column) and death (by penetrating into the brain or paralyzing heart and lung functions).
[b]THE END
I hope that this proved to be educational and academically useful, and will not have to be used at all.
Jul 05, 2007 12:01 pm - as I said countless times, this isn’t about fighting (i couldn’t think of a better title) its about KILLING! to the best of my knowledge there is no egg on that. if you find one, please post a link.
Jul 05, 2007 10:01 pm - i didnt find that on the web, i was at a library for some school project and read a few books when i was done. my experience at the library.....duh.
Jul 06, 2007 5:39 am - This is almost exactly the same as a book called COLD STEEL by John Styers. It’s pretty much the same thing, but a little more in depth. I think he just copied a few things out of it. Cold Steel is even used to train marines how to knife fight. The leatherneck magazine even helped him publish it.
Jul 20, 2007 12:21 am - ^Actually Mack Attack-203, it all depends. I have an article here on my laptop that proves that in a fight between a gun and a knife the knife will win (or at least seriously injure the opponent before he blasts his ass away). If you want the article (or anyone) send me a message and I’ll send it to you.
^Clown-4575. What are you talking about, “no one will ever need this”? Riddle me this: Then why the HELL do they still teach ALL soldiers how to knife fight (or least with a bayonet)?! Amazing, huh?
KrazyDuck, yet again 5* Good detail, but could use some pictures.
