Did you know that FUZster.com is the SAME as Fuzzster.com?
Have you ever wanted to browse a site like a search engine? Seeing all of the ’hidden links’ that sites hide to improve the site ratings?
Have you ever seen THIS?
Unless you’re AE, probably not.
What you’ll need for this egg:
Mozilla Firefox - If you don’t have it already, you’d better get it.
User Agent Switcher addon for Firefox.
An importable list of User Agents - These are prefabricated User Agent switchers for Search Engines. RIGHT CLICK - SAVE AS... Clicking it will just display the doc tree.
USER_AGENT
A USER AGENT is basically a string of text used to represent your browser. For example, the exact same code wouldn’t necessarily work for both Internet Explorer® and Mozilla® Firefox. Because this string is sent to the server of the site you’re requesting data from FIRST, the site can send you back the code that fits your browser BEST.
BUT, what about search engines? They’re certainly not people clicking links all day! When, for example, Google reads a site, it will send it’s own customized USER_AGENT to the server.
Here’s an example of only a FEW things I found in a few seconds of looking at RE with the GoogleBot USER_AGENT enabled. You may need to refresh the page a couple times once you turn on a certain USER_AGENT for the effect to be seen!
As you can see, some uncommon links and text has shown up on the page. In case you’re curious, I just swatted a bug on my monitor.
Setting up:
- Install Firefox
- Install the UserAgent Switcher Extension (rather easy)
- Restart Firefox.
Saving the XML file:
You MUST right click it to save it. This will allow you to easily import it later. I removed the already-existent USER_AGENTS that come with the switcher so they don’t double up.
Right click, Save Link As...
Now, go to Tools-UserAgent Switcher-Options-Options...
Now click (in the left panel) User Agents, then Import. Select the XML file you’ve saved, and press OK.
Now you can switch between different search engines and explore ’unseen’ areas of the internet. REMEMBER: You can ALWAYS go back to normal by selecting the ’Default’ selection in the User-Agent Switcher menu.
PLEASE do post some of your findings!
The .XML file of User_Agents was by me, for you. It’s 100% safe, I personally certify. As a ’wager’, if it’s rendered unsafe through reasonable means, I’ll rid you of my account. I don’t believe in stealing accounts, or screwing with members who contributed to the site that I go to for personal benefit.
CHECK IT OUT! And, as always, pity vote the shit out of my egg. And if you don’t pity vote, vote good anyway. Because vaseline is the nectar of nutrub |
