These are the plans for a Bullpup design combustion powered Airsoft shotgun/grenade launcher.
Its Referred to as "Bullpup" because the projectile is launched from the rear of the weapon [firing chamber is located in, or is, the stock of weapon]. The barrel goes down inside the gun, unlike a traditional rifle where the barrel is attached to the forward area of the gun. This makes the gun compact without compromising barrel length.
This rifle will rain Airsoft BB’s onto the target, or at close range, pwn it. The only downside to this weapon is ROF [rate of fire]. It may take as long to reload as a Civil War musket, therefore, this shouldn’t be used as your primary weapon.
Its basically a miniature Spudgun, you can shoot batteries and stuff out of it, but I wouldn’t recommend shooting anything other than Airsoft BB’s at people.
I had the idea to wright this egg after I built this, and I DON’T have the materials, time, and will to make a new one just to show you guys pics, so I’ll make some diagrams.
Heres a pic of my finished gun:
Materials
-3 feet of 3/4 inch schedule 40 PVC piping
-A Bic"long type" lighter
-Duct tape/electrical Tape
-About a foot or so of small, insulated electrical or "bell" wire
-2 Plastic soda bottles [20 fl oz or more], one of the bottles still needs the cap
-PVC cement or super glue. This can be substituted for duct tape, but if you have glue, use it
-2 thumb tacks or short [less than 1 inch] nails
-A saw, or PVC cutting tool
-A separate, working, lighter
-Aerosol Deodorant
-Toilet Paper and BB’s
-3 foot+ stick
-Optional [if you wants a trigger in the grip, like a real gun] a Power Drill, and a 5/16 bit
-Optional Spray Paint
Measuring/Cutting
-Grab yer 3 feet of PVC, measure out 2, four inch pieces and cut them, these will be the grips.
-The remaining PVC will be your Barrel which duals as the receiver [body of gun].
-Get one of the bottles. Look at it. See the top part? Cut that off, [cut along the dotted lines as shown in teh diagram].
Save that for later.
-Take the other bottle, using the lighter that you intend to keep, heat up the middle of the bottom [from the outside] till its molten, using a piece of 3/4" PVC to push or poke a hole in the bottom.
-I really don’t want to explain taking apart the bic lighter to obtain said ignition system. Therefore, I will provide a link to the instructions http://www.advancedspuds.com/lighter.htm
-Optional Take one of the 4 inch grips and drill a hole about 1 inch from one of the ends. This is for installing the trigger in the grip.
Assembly
-Swab glue on the inside of the bottle [the one thats still intact] nose or w/e its called.
-Slide the bottle up about 1’ on one end of the Barrel. your firing chamber is now mounted on the weapon. Don’t make this too permanent, as it may need to be replaced.
-Take the grip that will be the trigger grip on cut a small notch on the top [1 inch above the hole previously drilled out] on the opposite side of the hole, this is where the wires will hang out.
-Take your Piezo Clicker and thread the wires through the hole and out the top [or mount it on the side if you’re not doing the trigger thing] and push the clicker in the hole, if it doesn’t fit, modify the hole accordingly.
-Carefully glue the section of wire that runs through the tube to the side to hold the clicker in, so it wont fall out or move around to much.
-Hold the Barrel [with bottle on back end] up to your shoulder like a rifle, the bottle, the blast chamber, will act as the stock. Now make two fists and support the tube on them. Place your fists where it seems comfortable, mark these spots, as that is where they will be mounted.
-Put glue on the edges of the tops of the grips and stick the to the places you marked. Let dry. Reinforce the attachment with duct tape/electrical tape.
-Attach the top of the other bottle with glue and duct ape. This is critical its on ther reeeal tight.
[Wiring]
-Heres a diagram of what you should have:
(The red lines are the wires)
-In short, the wires run from the clicker in [or "on", if you were lazy] the grip to the two thumb tacks.
-Now, take the thumb tacks and push them into the bottle so that they are angled towards each other. The total distance between the points should be about .5cm, you can eyeball it.
-Before gluing the tacks in place, push the clicker and make sure a small, blue [sometimes yellowish] spark flashes between the two points. [Be careful, glue fumes may ignite]. If it sparks, we can move on, if not, make sure everything is connected and re position the points a tad bit closer. This is trial and error.
-Glue the tacks in place.
Painting [optional]
-Cover up the clicker and spray paint away. Try not to get paint in the gun.
FIRING
-Using toilet paper, create a small ball and push it down the barrel with stick. The stick is called a ram-rod. If the ball is too tight, your blast chamber could explode. if its too tight, push the ram rod through the blast chamber, down the barrel, and push out the TP ball. Its considered too tight if it requires extra effort to push it.
-Put about 20-50-75-100 BB’s in the barrel. Less BB’s = more power and distance per BB, more BB’s means larger spread, but less distance and velocity.
-To allow your self to aim at a downward angle/level angle, put a less dense TP ball down the barrel so it lightly sits on top of the BB’s.
-Unscrew the back cap and spray a quick burst of Aerosol Deodorant [Right Guard works best] into the chamber, quickly screw the cap back on.
-Aim, push the button down.
SAFETY
-I wouldn’t shoot at anyone with this closer than 20 feet.
-Explosion is alway a risk, but an explosion in a plastic bottle will not injure/kill you as there is no shrapnel, its just really shocking when it happens and it may be loud and hot.
-Always wear eye safety when Airsofting, I may sound like an instruction manual, but I know from personal experience, YOU NEED GOGGLES, no matter how much you don’t think you need them.

Jul 11, 2007 5:05 am - ughh, RE is being gay and wont let me add a main pic.

Jul 11, 2007 5:07 am - dude you just made a lemon launcher, and that plastic bottle will rip/explode , injering you in the face/body. good one .... 1*

Jul 11, 2007 5:13 am - ^and you know this how? the plastic bottle can, and will resist pressure...they make them that way on purpose to prevent accidental soda explosion. nub.

Jul 11, 2007 5:19 am - dude, the pressure in a lemon launcher combustion chamber is heaps greater then in a skaked soda bottle -_-! and plus the heat of the combustion + sudden burst of pressure + crapy thin layer of plastic = ACCEDENT!!!!. i like how you made it look like a gun thow. but you just need to change the combustion chamber jon it. and it might be fine if your just launching paper balls with bb’s in it, but put a patato/ lemon/carrot OR aNYTHING WITH SOME RESISTANCE and its fucked.

Jul 11, 2007 5:21 am - youd be surprised at the pressure a soda bottle can hold, but you are right about the resistance, simply why this wasnt advertised as a spudgun :)

Jul 11, 2007 5:27 am - lol ok well good egg, nice pic and nice explenation, but has been done a hundred times as a sped gun / lemon launcher. but its good anyways

Jul 11, 2007 10:04 am - just no. 0*

Jul 11, 2007 11:21 am - i didn’t read it, but i love guns so 4*

Jul 11, 2007 5:53 pm - pretty cool.... si that yer gun uptop? where u get it and for how much? i might wanna buy one fo those.... remake this with real pictures next time... this time i give a 5 though

Jul 11, 2007 5:56 pm - anf if u need something that can hold ALOT of pressure, use a metal bottle or fill a paintball co2 cannister with a flammable gas and walla....

Jul 12, 2007 2:44 pm - a bit of advice to everyone...use LOTS of PVC cement and duct tape when attaching the endcap, it busrt off, hitting my shoulder when i fired it today, its working fine now with the added glue and duct tape.
