We didnt even go inside right away, I remember Jeff going backwards looking in all directions for someone who had heard or seen us, that is before they both told me off! I was expecting the usual Hey! from the neighbor. I actually wish someone had shouted at us, so we just couldve run away to Jeffs dads truck, went to the party and most likely forgot about the damn house. But no-one heard anything, so I was like Cmon lets go in, someones gonna see us. I went in first, then Mike, and then Jeff he said Someone could be calling the cops. Jeff wanted to wait outside as a look-out! we called him a #*@! and got him to come inside I think Mike was into it as much as I was. I remember more clearly that we didnt smell anything until we were all the way in the house. I said, awe, what the #*@! is that smell? Jeff said, its probably some dead animals that came in here and died! I knew what we were all thinking! Dead guy! I wanted to keep going, but it was pitch black, the street lamp at the front didnt even come close to the house. I felt near the door for the light switch and found one, it was old, but I managed to flip it, and nothing came on. Either the electricity had been cut because the house was abandoned or the lamp was too old. We said something that I cant remember, but then I pulled out my lighter, initially using it only to light fireworks and smoke! So I lit it, and this empty room appeared, there were stairs heading upstairs, and two closed doors, leading ahead and across to other rooms. I looked up and saw that the lamp was non-existent, just old wires sticking out of the ceiling I think it had spider webs all over it. The walls had been covered with gray wallpaper that was obviously very old, because they were stained and tearing up and down the walls. So this was our first impression of the place from hell, which was really only 5 seconds, until Mike said, Lets go upstairs. Jeff just said, #*@! this lets go to the party, I kind o#*@!reed with both of them, but I couldnt walk out now!! I said, nah lets go in here, we walked into the door on the left and I tried the light switch in that room, because I saw a light bulb hanging from the ceiling. It worked!!! The bulb ticked on, gave off a very dim light, and the room was almost the same as the other room except for one door leading somewhere else, and an old red couch. The couch was slashed, stained tearing and you could see that it was damn old. Jeff actually got into it now, and he lead us into the next room, the kitchen. This kitchen was the worst, it had the tiles ripped down from the walls and a bench top that was all broken and cracked. I saw some smashed plates on the floor and guessed that some homeless bum was living here. I was mostly relying on my lighter, and hadnt bothered to look for a light. Mike actually went up to an old peeling cupboard and opened it, empty. There were some candles and more cupboards to look at but I wasnt bothered.

Why? Because I saw a hatch caught my eye, not in the kitchen, but in the corner of the same empty room. I saw an old door leading obviously to the backyard Jeff walked up the door and opened it. It opened with a very load cracking, creaking sound! It made all of us jump, even though I was looking at him do it! The door handle came off, Jeff just threw it outside and we both looked out into the yard. Pretty normal, except for a crappy looking veranda, the long grass and an old swing set, that I could hardly see. Jeff slammed the door, and Mike dropped some old plates he found! We guessed we were making was too much noise. I was more fascinated in what was in the cellar. I said, lets go down, here! Mike just said #*@! off! in a disagreeable way. Jeff was like Ok, you go first! I was like all right, even though I was feeling a thrill that wasnt so cheap. I was actually dead scared. The other abandoned or old houses we went to were empty, old, and boring really, and we explored them mostly during the day. I just hoped that the people left behind something good, and as far as creepiness went, I wasnt scared at all, even though I wanted some cheap thrill. So anyway, I tried to open the hatch using the loop handle, which I thought was way too thick, even for my big hands! I took a grasp with both hands, I could hardly see, only a bit of light came in from an old small window that faced the yard. I told Jeff to use my lighter. He lit it, and I saw it, and I almost tipped backwards. I saw dirty muddy footprints, very old they seemed to lead to the back door. Jeff was like, someone is probably down there! I heard Mike still fooling around in the kitchen and called him over. I saw him carry something over, a big candleholder, and he said it was for protection! I was ready I pulled upward as hard as I could! The door was so thick it went up a nudge and went straight back down with a soft thud! I told them help me open it! so we all got one hand on the giant rusty handle and pulled, hard on three! It started to open very slowly, but made a horrible loud crack-creak sound, that made us want to let go and leave! I said Cmon, pull it over and it finally went to a vertical point and we let go, it slammed backwards with a massive Bang! I thought we broke a hole in the old floor, right after we jumped out of our skin! All throughout the house, I noticed and so did Mike and Jeff, that the light stench wasnt really bothering us anymore until we had opened this damn trap door, and a whoosh of air had come out, the stench that ejected from the cellar was so strong that it smelled like you had just opened a coffin where a corpse laid inside it for a couple of weeks! That is where the powerful stench was coming from the closed trap door! It was shut and yet the smell still went through the floorboards and all throughout the house!
