my ex had a pet dog he really loved called tex. after we broke up (he cheated on me) i was going on a trip with a friend round the country so before we left i went over to his house while was out and used my old key to get to get in and borrow tex and his leash. he traveled in the back seat with us for a few weeks and every place we stayed in we found a local land mark and took a photo of him being held by someone we’d ask on the street in front of it and send it to my ex. the second last place we visited we drove past a taxidermist on the edge of town and my friend wanted to have a look. we started talking to the guy and got on to the subject of my exs dog. for our final photo the guy got one of his stands for the stuffed animals and we had tex stand on it with the taxidermist in front of his shop. in the photo it looked like he’d been stuffed. the photo got to him a few days before we got back and he was incredibly relieved to find tex mysteriously turn up in the back yard one morning. his sister told me he’d been hysterical the whole time he’d been missing, making the trip very worthwhile.
