So you want to change your oil,
but don’t know how?
Well it’s probably one of the easiest things to do to your car,
aside from replacing the anti-freeze.(If you don’t know how yr an idiot)
What you’ll need
Oil (Usually 4-5 Qts.)
Oil Filter Wrench/ or large Vice
Car Jack
Oil pan
Rags(They’re going to get ruined)
A light of some kind
A flattened Cardboard Box(Unless you want oil stains)
A new oil filter
Funnel
So you have your materials.
Start off by Raising the car with your Car Jack, (yeahh I think you know how)
and put the cardboard under the car.
(this is where your going to lay)
Take your wrench, your light, and your oil pan, and slide under the car past the motor until you see what looks like a can stuck to the bottom of the car.
This is your oil filter.
It’s usually black, covered in dried oil)
Once you’ve found the oil filter,
take your wrench and twist the filter to the left, until it’s loose, then do it by hand.
Have the pan ready, because once you take the filter off, the oil is going to come out fast.
So by now, your oil should be draining into the pan,
which could take up to 10 minutes.
Once it’s completely drained,
take one of your rags and wipe away the outlet where you unscrewed the filter,
and it’s surroundings to remove the grime
so the new filter will have a tight fit.
Take your new oil filter and screw it tightly into place.
Now,
come out from under the car,
and look under the hood for the cap that says "oil"

Remove the cap,
place your funnel over the opening, and empty out all of your new oil into the car.
Start the car,
let the engine run for about 5-10 minutes to let the engine burn off the excess oil,
and your good to go.
You can get all of these materials for about $15 where i’m from,
from Auto Zone, Checker, or any other Auto Shop in town.

Aug 24, 2007 2:31 pm - That is the absoloute WORST way i have EVER heard of someone trying to change their oil?
Why in the HELL did you suggest to drain your oil from the oil filter outlet? That is preposterous. You should change it by unscrewing the plug on the oil pan, considering thats what its their for.
You also didnt mention the short 5 minute drive prior to oil changing to heat the oil so you can get a better drain.
Nor did you mention to check the old oil filter outlet for a stuck on O-ring.
You also failed to mention to lubricate the O-ring on the new oil filter, with the new oil.
This is a GREAT egg, if you want to learn how to make your engine throw a rod, or crack the crank case.
This egg is absoloultly horrendous, in and out of context.
You get zero stars, and just to spite you, i will go five starr RERs egg, providing it is more complete.
Aug 25, 2007 6:18 pm - i gave u 1* cos u put abit of time into it....but as some have already explained u forgot to mention a 5minute worm up and as alle mussen said; u have to drain the oil out of the oil sump by un-doing the sump plug and always have an extra oil pan incase the one ur using starts to over fill aswell...so yeh this was a pretty poor egg and some said u plagerized(sp?) the pics from other eggs
