Substitutes of Zippo Lighters
If you don’t feel like spending a dime to go buy this stuff, or your parents won’t let you. Heres what you can do.
Item 1. Flint
Item 2. The Fuel Holder (Cloth part, not the felt)
Item 3. Wick
Item 4. Fuel
Flint
Find a B.I.C lighter (those disposable ones)
Take the Metal part off.
Then take the wheel off slowly and the brackets holding the wheel off slowly.
Then carefully hold your hand under the lighter when its upside down, and there you have a flint.
The Fuel Holder
Instead of spending not even a dime to get some Official Zippo Rayon Balls,
you can substitute with cotton balls (you can probably find some in your moms room).
Take about 3-4, and stretch them and dry them, than wet and compact them and dry again.
After doing this they will hold fuel much better. If you want the felt cover, buy some
at Micheal’s or something and glue one end to the cotton balls, and with a center
punch push felt around so you have about a 3/16 hole where you screw in the spring for the flint.
Wick
Get a piece of Cotton string (already made or stretch a cotton ball out and twist it so it stays still).
Get a piece of thin wire (the kind at supermarkets for tying veggies) and wrap it around the string
(at least 5 times per inch).
And there you have a Wick that will stay erect.
Fuel
As you probably know, zippo fuel evaporates probably as quick as it is poured into the resevoir.
So you need, Carbeurator Cleaner, Brake cleaner, and some WD-40.
First get one of the caps off the cans, spray about 2 seconds of the brake and carbeurator cleaner in,
then pour it into the zippo resevoir, top it off with some WD-40. Do not overfill.. its highly flammable
as most gases are.
BTW I DIDNT SEE ANYTHING ON THIS STUFF IN THE DIRECTORY SO FCK OFF IF YOU DECIDE TO PMS ON ME !

Its a little strap-on dick that you buy at walmart that is used for poking newborns.

Ahh, something I’d like to add to this, as I can speak from personal experiance. I did this with my very first zippo, and it fucked up my entire zippo because the flint in BIC lighters is much longer than ordinary zippos, and also slightly bigger, as it got stuck halfway through my zippo, whilst trying to replace the flint.
My suggestion, go on eBay.com(.au) and search up Zippo Flints, and you can buy a Genuine Zippo whole card/zippo dispenser (6 flints), for about $4.00, as that is what I do, and it works out good (50cents postage, so its $4.50 all up, and I’d assume if you bought alot, they’d trim down the price cuz of buying in bulk. And the good thing is every pack of flints you buy, you get a free Genuine zippo Wick. So that works out your wick problem as well.)

Aug 29, 2007 8:41 pm - yeah i made that mistake once by mixing bbq fluid with zippo fluid to try and make it last longer. it fucked it up but it still works if you use zippo fluid. 5*s on the egg
