Alright... in this egg I’ll show you hot to take
a few household items and make a remote that
will work for most TV’s that is cleverly
disguised as a ordinary pen.

First off sorry for any page stretch...

ITEMS NEEDED:
~Large pen
~Old remote
~Soldering Iron
~AAA battery
~Knife
~Pliers/ wire cutter

Ok...now begin by taking apart your remote control.

Save these three parts from the remote

Next take your large pen apart. This pen needs
to be big enough so that the AAA can fit inside it.

Now take your knife and cut about 0.5cm off the tip

Just enough so that you can put the remote bulb through the back without it going through the other side

Now grab this part of the pen and your pliers

Now use the pliers to bend the wire on the
positive side to a straight line... make it
as long as the pen is then snip off the end.

Now grab your soldering iron and a little solder.

Solder the negitive side of the wire you just straightened to the negitive side of the AAA battery...

Sercure the wire to the battery with a little bit of tape.

Now put the battery with the wire connected
through the pen...there needs to be enough
wire so that it will poke out of this part
of the pen about as much shown.

Grab this part taken out of the remote and your pliers again. straighten it out enough so that
you can put it in the pen with the straight
wire sticking out of the end as much as the first

Put it in the pen straight side first

It should sit inside the pen like so...

Now drop the battery with wire connected through
so that both ends of the wire are poking out of
the end of the pen.

It should look like this inside...

Now grab your soldering iron and solder one of
the wires of the remote bulb to one of the wires coming out of the end of the pen.

Now screw on the tip of the pen over the bulb and all.

Finished product...

How to use it
To use the pen remote, simply twist the bulb
with your fingers from left to right so that
the two loose wires will connect breifly to
send the infared beam to the TV of your choice.
You might have to jiggle it around some or take
of the tip to toggle with how the wires are placed.

Go sit in front of the TV and start playin with
it turning it left to right and jiggling it but
don’t turn it in a complete circle... it wont
work if the two wires are touching and it might break the solder.

Oh, and i dont know if all do, but some dig cams
pick up infared light so you can find out if
yours works by turning on your dig cam and
messin with it while looking at the dig screen.
You should see it light up sparatically. I
tried to get a pic of it but it would only
light of for half a sec.

I pointed it at my TV and played with it for a minute and a 2 came up on the screen... I played with it some more and it changed the volume.

This is a great little toy to use at a friends
house or wherever you want.

Make sure your victim has the remote to their
TV in their hand and pull your pen romote out
and see if you can get their TV to change
channels or volume...they won’t know what’s goin
on and will probably think there’s somthin worng with the TV.

Well thanks for your time and for reading my egg.

yeah it was a little too much work for me too...
I got bored around 2 am and decided to look around for somthin to make an egg from and thought of one before this one but it involved taking apart a DVD player and I wasnt sure if it would work so I skipped it... then I thought of this and started at like 2:30 then got done at like 3:00 and tried uploading pics but they were wayyy bigger than the ones on there now so I had to re upload them since I deleted them and then resize and balh blah blah blah blah... and here it is 7:30 and I’m still awake =]
today will be interesting.

i did this with a mini universal keychain remote inside an old tipex pen dispencer, i cut the end off like u did so the LED could poke out but i cut a segment off the side 2 access the buttons and used a 5 mm piece of pipe cleaner and pva glue 2 reattatch it and open and close it like a hinge 2 hide it. i got bored of it as i nevr had a golden opportunity 2 fuck up a tv with it apart from the shitty community centre cinema where they use a remote controlled projector plugged into a laptop where i kept turning it off but i sold it 2 a m8 4 about £10 ($20). 5* anyway.

Looks like it’s ineffiecient and more trouble than it’s worth. This could be used in class to annoying the teacher so it’s somewhat useful.

Atmy school, theres these pre 80 TVs from magnavox that are wired to some shit network, channel one, and it usually comes on druring advisory. Never had the nerve to try my universal remote i got, and i sat DIRECTLY in front of the fucking TV. The thing is, they were so old, it was normal for them to turn on and off, the volume to change, and the colors to be negatives, or it be choppy.

make sure the positive and neg wires dont touch.
I’m not sure if you could use 2 AAs...i think it may burn the bulb out. try using a AAA that isn’t brand new so it wont be too much power.

ShadyGrey

Sep 04, 2007 7:48 pm -
just use a knife or somthin to pry it open.
and patrick and jack... keep tryin. The TV I used it on is a newer model Sanyo. and I used the bulb from some tv vcr combo...I dont think it matters what model or anything but yeah. It’s not the most efficient design ever so if it doesn’t work keep tryin on dif TVs

use a small steak knife and heat it with a lighter or a stove then it cuts the pen plastic like butter.
Quote:
i just ried this n it didnt work, do u need to use a AAA batterie/ i used 2 aa and ptu them in amarker and it didnt work yo

hmmm... i wonder if thats cos the led filament is very delicate and easily melted and fucked up by just 3 volts that 2 AA’s give out.

there’s the advice now PLZ rate my prof 5, i rated this egg 5
