In the following egg im gonna tell you how to softmod your xbox.I have an xbox with a 120gb hardrive a clear case, green led’s and many usefull application like linksboks which is an internet browser for xbox. Its great for music, pictures, videos and games. You can also play "backed up" games. My xbox is pretty much a low end pc. I did this over the whole summer.
I know this is pretty old but please dont bitch its really sweet for media and stuff if you dont play games.
Step One - Softmodding
This is the only part with the whole that costs money unless you want to uprage things like the case or the hardrive. So first of all you have to buy an action replay. It only costs $35.00. Its not that much. The only store ive seen in Canada is Zellers other video game specialty stores dont sell it. You will probably need to order it online.
Then you have to download the exploit. I have used Softmod Installer Deluxe 5.0 and Krayzies Ndure and I prefer the second one. To get it I would go to www.isohunt.com it is my favourite torrent site. I download alot of stuff from it, even xbox games. Then you should download Utorrent to download the torrent.
You will also need the original splinter cell (original not platinum hits) Its proably under $5.00 now.
So you’ve got all your supplies and your ready to install the mod. So the first step is to put the Udata in the splinter cell save 1 and 2 (make sure ntsc if you live in North America) onto your action replay. Then copy them onto your xbox and delete all other splinter cell saves.
Then load splinter cell and go to single player and there should be a file save called "linux" or "run linux" then open it a open checkpoints. Your xbox should boot to a tottaly new menu. First back up your eeprom and then your c and e drive (its pretty much step by step instructions) Then you can finally click on install and you can pick which version you want (I think its .6 and .7) Choose the one that suits you. (It has what each one does in help) then choose your dashboard I would select UnleashX but some people like EvoX. I think UnleashX does alot more and looks cooler.
Once it is done it will tell you to restart your xbox and remove splinter cell. After this it will finalize the softmod and you should have a finished the instalation.
Sep 06, 2007 12:19 am - Nice, i was wondering how they do this..... ( I have an xbox i bought from a guy came with EVO X dashboard and 15 games installed (Nba 2k7, Nfs:Carbon, Counter Strike ,ect)
And the guy said he’s neighbour done it for $100 and i thought you had to solder stuff onto your xbox for it too run... , anyway good to know this thanks :P

Ya Nice job 5*, The reason all the programs that are from that one site and also on his is that those programs are the most known and easiest to use. They are all basically the same for auto installers and all that good shit. I preferred Sof-tmod installer 5.0, but the other one is better, Soft-mod installer 5.0 has some flaws though, If not done correct it will leave your box fucked up. With an error 23 or 17. Youll still be able to play games, but not be able to access the dashboard. It happened to a buddy of mine. Ares Galaxy actually has alot of xbox iso’s and ares downloads really fast. And Mech Assault is definitely the best exploit to use, alot easier then splinter cell in my opinion.
