First off all cars are different and I can only give a basic guideline, be creative and make it to specify your needs.

Choosing a car - the best RC car for this would be a small, powerful one made for outdoors [not streets] since it will be carrying a small load. Take a look under the car, some crappy ones will have no cover for it, allowing water and debris to get under it and screw it up. Check the battery time length on the box, if it looks like a durable car, and finally check the range the range the car can go from you.

Armor – This is optional, and I can’t give exact dimensions or designs so all cars are different but only a basic shape. I suggest using a thick, but not heavy, metal such as a stop sign or something like that. I’m sure you could make do with a couple things of sheet metal put together. For this if you have a metal cutter and a vice [for bending] I will go a lot faster but you can make do with a hacksaw and a strong pair of hands [maybe a friend]. Lay it on to see if it fits on good. Does it get in the way of the battery? If it does then I suggest using black tape to hold it down instead of using screw to hold it down although you could take both off easily. But I do not suggest using any kind of glue.

If you’re adding armor take off the top, it’s usually just screws, and replace it with what ytou want.

If you’re not sure how to make it just follow this design and bend ti to your needs.

Finished...Almost.

Paint Job – go with matte black or dark blue/brown/purple or maybe camo for the woods. If you’re not using it for exploration it doesn’t matter what you color it. Make sure you use a primer and a couple thin coats rather than one big coat.

What mine looks like

Headlights - The brighter the flashlights the better, but three should be good enough to light the darkness. Also it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have one red light flashlight or just slip red plastic over one [less noticeable]

Simple

Attach a smoke bomb for a quick getaway if needed. Use a fuse if you have to but you will only have a limited time [aka you know there’s some people in the building and you have a certain time before they see your car] and then you have remote detonation. RD wouldn’t’ be too hard and would be a lot more useful, but you would have to take extra time to make one. For the smoke bomb just take some and put it in a PVC pipe, put caps on it and drill a small hole for a fuse. For a bomb simply use black powder…

Front Spike – This will be a lot easier to do if your remote control car came with a bumper, although it can still be done without one. But since the bumpers are usually detachable you could take it off if you wanted to. Find a piece of metal, preferably along the lines of steel. Grind it to the desired shape and glue/melt/screw to the front end. I used a hot glue gun and it seems to work pretty well. This can be used for ramming junk to chasing liddle kaids.

Take off the front.

Find or make somethng sharp [a knife will work well]

Put them together with glue or screws.

And the most important part, attaching the video camera. Obviously you don’t want to glue it to your car, so I suggest using adjustable straps or zip ties, tape, and maybe put it in a plastic bag in wet/dusty conditions. The camera should be no bigger than the size of your palm [depending on the power of your car] and due to off centering it and putting more weight at the top, which could result in it flipping over. Some digital cameras can take videos as are most cell phones, so I’m sure you could make do with that if you really needed to.

Taken with my other camera.

Finished Product.

Vids.

Advantages to an Exploratory RC Car

- use as a scout can go places where people can’t
- less noticeable [in most cases]
- can be turned into a drivable bomb [humans can do this but it’s often fatal]
- they’re fun to drive around….

Other Ideas

-Make it so it can shoot model rockets or fireworks [at people?]
- Make a couple and have a derby
- Go off some sweet jumps
- Fill them with gunpowder and match heads and junk like that and ram them against stuff

Now that i think about it, i wish i would have rated this a 3.

I dont think it is possible to stream video from a digital camera, so operating it where you cant see (its purpose) is impractical, if not impossible.

It would be so much better if you could get rid of that annoying/common RC car noise and if you used a live feed.

What you need is to buy one from towerhobbies.com

I recommend the Mini T. It will do about 20MPH, and has a way better everything. That little peice of shit you have is from walmart or some shit. This also has variable speed control.

and yea it does make a lot of noise but its a shitty walmart one I got just so I could tear it apart, I’m sure there are MUCH quiter ones

and yes I used a digital camera instead of a live feed

1. I don’t have a live feed

2. you could easily replace it with one so don’t say this is imposslibe, I was showing it how easily it could be done

ive got an r/c car i would recomend its a lego dirt crusher its gd sor exploring because its fast(for getting away)and it has gears so it can be slow(for stealth) and because its lego u can customize it and take off the blue bits so its black and stealthy [imgtp://i202.photobucket com/albums/aa132/jackdoor0 /CIMG0414.jpg[/img]

I like the Idea and the god job u did, but:

1. why did u say that stuff with the smokebomb, placed on the ccar? Theres nothing more dumb, FUSE!? Will u run to the car and lite it while someon comes up to it? ...

2. For what that front spike? it looks funny but ha no usage, you will get ur car stuck everywhere!

3. Why did u fix the vidlinks, would be better if u didnt do that, cuz the car is so loud you couldnt call it noisless or eveb stealthy...

4. In the first vid u were driving for about 3 meters an your car already flipped, bad job!

5. The camera... You cant see through it so it is totaly useles for example exploring the sewers. If it would be an camere wich sends the datas to ur PC or sumthing it woukld be nice, but since those cost very much i wouldnt even think about driving it into a small sewer tube and then getting stuck and lose it...

So thats the bad stuff...
The good ones?, nice pics and so on but u stretched the side too.. youl just get 3 Stars for an egg wich could be so much better. But youve said imagine! and so on, would give 3.4 but i cant.

wont it be a waste of money to turn it into a divable bomb I mean you waste few hundred to install a bomb just to blow up everything you bought and installed into the car

other than that nice egg, 5*
