Rotteneggs will not allow me to post my own pictures on here for some reason. It freezes up so i apologize for the fact that i do not have a visual diagram of the product but i will do my best to replicate it using combinations of pictures from other sources. Tazers that are built from disposable cameras often result in operator injury, dont put out much voltage and dont last long. This is a rechargeable tazer/mini telsa coil that can be attached to doorknobs, pointed at someone (within 8 inches) or used to zap the hell out of everything in sight.
TAZER- (Point, press button, ZAP)
This is extremely simple to build and can be done with $30 or less using parts from an automotive store.
PARTS: Ignition Coil ($15)
Spark Plug wire (less than $5)
Switch and 5 feet of wire ($5)
Big Rechargeable battery of some sort (~$10)
Screwdriver (find/steal one)
Now im sure you wont need to spend all of that. Most people have a rechargeable battery with a charger from some old shitty R/C car that broke after 15 minutes of use. Alot of houses have wire and some sort of a switch lying around that arent in use.
An ignition coil can be purchased at a junkyard for $5 along with a spark plug wire.
Spark plug wires have many different connectors on them. It is easy to attach a connector to a wire according to the ignition coil. Most generic ignition coils have a universal fitment so all wires will work.
The ignition coil is easy to find and can be purchased for very little dollarinos. An ignition coil is basically just a nice big giant capacitor that really puts out a good punch. The shorter the spark plug wire that is used, the better punch it will give out. Ignition coils will range from 35,000 volts to 70,000 volts but either way its going to hurt like a motherfucker.
An RC car battery works perfectly. The bigger, the
better.
Directions: Take your ignition coil and attach a red wire to the positive primary terminal and a black wire to the negative primary terminal. Cut the red wire in half and solder/attach a switch to it. Using connectors is highly advised seeing as this can be an even more dangerous tool if misconstructed. Attach the other half of the red wire to the other side of the switch that can be toggled on/off. Make sure that the switch is in the OFF position unless you want to zap yourself with 50,000+ volts. Attach connectors to the positive and negative wires and attach it to a charged RC car battery or big portable battery of some sort. Attach your spark plug wire to the ignition post within the secondary tower of the ignition coil. You can now attach the end of the sparkplug wire to the metal part of a screwdriver with a plastic handle. You can wrap it in LOTS and LOTS of layers of rubber and electrical tape layered. When you turn on the toggle switch and bring it within 8-12 inches of an electrical conductor (person, metal, animal) it will zap 50,000+ volts. People have been known to attach many ignition coils together and make telsa coils that can zap someone and make them fly across the room.
Oct 20, 2007 4:33 pm - last week i built one with two MSD BLASTER 2 ignition coils wired in series and it puts out 120,000 volts. I had a problem with squirrels climbing a bird feeder cable so i attached it to it. The squirrels try to climb it but they get thrown off and fly about 6 feet and die instantly.
Oct 20, 2007 4:45 pm - it does work. I zapped my friend and it disintegrated the skin on the end of his thumb. We found that it works pretty well as a wart remover, you just need to deal with the huge blister that will be where your wart was. What makes the coil different from shock pens/lighters, grille ignitors, disposable cameras and other capacitors is that the ignition coil is high amperage and high voltage. It gives a good whollop that can arc pretty far.
Oct 20, 2007 4:51 pm - i didnt use a voltmeter on it but when you purchase an ignition coil, it tells what its output voltage is. If you have a 12v battery hooked up to it than the output will be more than 40,000 volts. Theres alot of RC car batteries that put out 12v. The standard resistance of spark plug wire is 1k ohm per 1 foot of wire. I used 11.4 mm spark plug wire that is 200 ohms per 1 foot. I used 2 feet of wire. So the percentage of voltage lost is minimal.
Oct 20, 2007 7:10 pm - Cool idea ive been thinking of some ideas to build a tazer myself. Be careful though on the amperage. 10 milliamps is more than enough to kill a human.

Oct 21, 2007 10:13 am - This is an incomplete circuit. Technically, it shouldn’t work at all. In order for current to flow, it must have a path from the positive side of the battery to the negative side. Simply poking someone with a probe that is connected to a high voltage source without providing a return path won’t do anything. Standing barefoot on the ground wouldn’t even help. The circuit isn’t earth grounded.
Also, this wouldn’t be a ’Taser’. It’d be a ’Stun Gun’. A Taser fires electrodes up to 30’, connected to the coil via TWO thin wires. One positive, and one negative. A Stun Gun has TWO fixed electrodes (pos and neg).
Lastly, you really should have more warning about the risks of playing with high voltage. It IS rather dangerous.
Oct 21, 2007 11:00 am - this seems to work pretty well and gives out a good whollop. A vehicle has ignition grounds but it sits on rubber tires that dont ground the chassis to the pavement. Why dont you build one of these, stick your tongue on the cable and tell me that it doesnt work. vehicle ignition grounds are just grounded to the valve cover of the engine which isnt connected to the earth by a metal object. It depends on the size of the object. When wiring up a vehicle stereo, you should wire the negative cable to a chassis ground but sometimes its difficult to find a piece of metal within the dashboard that is bigger than 1’x1’ so you at least ground it to something large in size because it is better than having no ground. IT DOES WORK THOUGH.
Oct 21, 2007 11:03 am - if your spark plug boot isnt connected so that the ignition grounds to the head, than it will still operate, many times it will run like shit because the coil needs to build up more power before getting a spark which will cause the engine to misfire. But you need to remember that the ignition coil in a car needs to fire sometimes over 400 sparks per second.
Oct 21, 2007 11:06 am - sure, you could attach a negative electrode from the negative side of the battery to a position 4 inches away from the positive electrode from the coil, but it will reduce the total power significantly and drain the battery in a few seconds.

The reason you get shocked by an ignition wire on a car is NOT because you’re standing on the ground, but because you’re either leaning on the negatively grounded fender, or you’ve got your other hand on a GROUNDED piece of metal.

What? The reason a spark plug fires is because the head that it’s threaded into is GROUNDED, thereby completing the circuit.

If your wire isn’t connected, the plug won’t fire. That’s what causes the misfire. Not reduced ’power’ from the coil.
Also,
When you energize a coil, initially, the voltage is relatively low. When you DISCONNECT the power source, the electromagnetic field collapses, causing a severe opposite spike. THAT’S the high voltage.
So, basically you’d have to apply power, then release the switch to get a long arc from the probe to the negative terminal.
