Ok, first take a PVC pipe then saw off about 4 inches off it. Use some paper/foil/whatever and glue it together to make an end cap for it. Fill it with what ever explosive you have (my favourite is lead azide). Now drill a hole in and insert a gasoline soaked shoe lace- this is the fuse.
Make another end cap and wrap in tape- there you have it, a perfect firecracker which is very powerful. For effect you can put in those little roman candle balls or break open any fireworks and chuck it in.
For a REALLY powerful version make black powder (you know, 75 potassium nitrate, 15 sulphur, 10 carbon) but use potassium chlorate instead of potassium nitrate. Use flowers of sulphur as the extra acidity in them makes it more powerful, that’s why nitric acid is used in explosives, the positive hydrogen ions increase the explosive potential.

Another good explosive to use in this is lead (IV) oxide and magnalium, make sure you use a good fuse for that, I advise using wiper fluid on your fuse to make it extra powerful.

Oct 23, 2007 2:52 pm - this is most definitely not a firecracker if used with PVC...that would be called a pipe bomb.
5*s though... I heart explosives =]
