Throughout this egg, I will show you how to put together a little paintball canister that shoots out of a 2" barrel Spudgun great.
*You can use this same idea for other sized barrels also, just have to tweak the size of certain materials.
First, here are the materials:
-Small foam cup
-Electric or Duct tape (I use both)
-Regular Elmers glue (pretty much any liquid glue)
-Sharp utility knife
-A few cheap paintballs
-Regular paint (optional)
-Large Gatorate lid (optional)
Step 1: Take your utility knife and slowly cut 4 straight lines down the cup, starting from the opening (where you drink).
*Go slowly, the foam tends to tear easily
*Cut it into four equally spaced sections
Step 2: Take the cut cup, and fold the newly formed corners over the top of eachother. Put this into your Spudgun to make sure it fits good.
*Looks kindof like a ninja star or funny swirl
Step 3: Slide the cup out of the barrel a little bit so you can tape the open end up with whichever tape you are using.
*Squeeze it on really tight, you don’t want the canister to fall apart.
Step 4: Take the taped cup out of the barrel, and add some more tape to the opposite end.
Step 5: Using thin strips, cover up the sections where the cups overlap.
*If you are using regular paint and not paintballs, make sure that this fits together airtight.
*Go ahead and check to make sure that the canister still fits good, but not too tight, inside of your Spudgun barrel.
Step 6: Now turn your cup over and stand it up so that the bottom is facing you. Fill this little space up with some regular glue.
*This adds some weight and durability to the canister, so it flies farther.
*Here’s another picture after it dried
Step 7: Now, just to play it safe, put some tape over the glued bottom and cut off the excess that hangs over the edges.
*Just some more weight and durability.
Step 8: Go ahead and turn it over and fill it up with paintballs or regular paint.
*If you’re using regular paint just be sure that the whole thing is very airtight.
*The picture is rotated, sorry about that.
Step 9: This is where you get to choose whether or not to use your large Gatorade lid. Set the lid on top of the canister so it covers up the opening, and wrap some tape around so that it tapes the lid to the canister.
*If using just some tape, lay strips over the top and fold the leftover on the edges; then tape a circle around the edge to make sure the tape stays on.
*The first picture uses the lid, the second does not.
And there you go, the finished product. You may want to add some extra tape on each end to make it more airtight.
Using the Gatorade lid is for if you want to shoot at harder surfaces.
Not using the lid is if you’re going to be using this in a populated setting.
*Here’s a photo of a lid-less canister shot at concrete at about 35 feet. The spatter is about a foot and a half wide.

GREAT job on this one. For a paintball shotgun effect, dont tape up the split ends of your cup. The cup will act like a sabot in a muzzle loader, or a wad in a shot gun, and will peel away shortly after exiting the barrel, allowing your pattern to spread.
You, are my new favorite newb. |

 | Nov 03, 2007 6:00 pm - Alle is right, this is alot like the wadding an a shotgun.
This might hurt too much to use in regular paintball fights though. I like the idea of not taping the split end up, then you get hit with several single paintballs, rather than a huge fucking foam brick. |

 | Nov 07, 2007 3:38 pm - Thanks everyone for voting this Egg so high. I’m sorry that I haven’t been able to put a video of me shooting some of these up yet, but I should be able to that this weekend. And the shotgun effect that Alle spoke of works great too (thanks for letting everyone know about that). I’ve got some more Spudgun Egg ideas, but I just need some time to buy the materials and will get them on here as soon as possible. Thanks again! |

 | Nov 08, 2007 5:02 pm - Ok this is detailed, easy to make, you can actually get all the materials easily love it 5* |

 | Nov 10, 2007 8:36 am - for paintballs i just roll them in a paper towel but this is cool because you can fill it with regular paint or another kind of liquid and it stays in a nice projectile. and spud guns are so much fun |

 | Nov 29, 2007 2:05 pm - perfect just what i nedded I recently made an egg on how to make a potato gun/cannon. But i din’t know what i should shoot out of it and now i found perfect ammo considering i have a box of thousands of paintballs. |
