Whatsup, ma REggers. This is my 5th egg, and up until now, all of my eggs have consisted of directives which explained how to do certain tasks. This egg will break that trend, as it will be one of Urban Exploration. In the information that follows, I will explore an abated residence, in a wealthy suburban neighborhood. This fourth egg will be accompanied by a fifth. This first egg will give the story of the house, the layout, the method of entrance, and so forth. The companion egg (my fifth) will be my exploration of the inside of the house. I did this mainly with character limit in consideration.

Background:
The story I gathered on the house was that the owner had decided to sell it after finding another place of residence. He put it up on the market with the assumption that it would sell quickly, mainly for the reason that it is located in a rapidly populating area. But, after the 9th month of being a cheap prick and not lowering his price, people seemed to lose interest. He was paying taxes on the house he was now living in, as well as this expensive muh fucka that nobody was living in. He had to do something fast. So what does he do? He does what any retarded, wealthy, moronic douche bag that watched too much Sopranos would do:
He found a guy that was around 19-years-old, and paid him to burn down the house; obviously with the aim of collecting the insurance and getting paid full value for the property. So he gives this kid a duplicate key to the place, and some starting money. The kid drives through the neighborhood, and parks down the street from the house. Now this is were my sources got fuzzy (you know the grapevines of these locales,) but my favorite version (by which the informants swear is the true version,) goes as follows: The guy has a baseball cap on his head and an axe in his hand, he just walks down the block across a bunch of houses, in ever-so-broad daylight, right up to the house. He uses the dupe and goes in the front door, and proceeds to drag the stove out from the wall of the kitchen, and beat the gas line with his axe. After cutting the gas line he freaked out and left, not forgetting to drive out of the neighborhood in a panic of like 50 miles per hour (he got paranoid and left was the reason that I was told, which certainly didn’t help him out in the long run lol) My guess for him leaving like this was to let the gas diffuse with the air, so that the property would burn to the ground when he lit it. At least 3 families of neighbors noticed this but did nothing about it, so that they didn’t come across as being nosy/paranoid. About an hour later (around 1:00PM) the pussy returns and lit the gas that had spread through from the opened gas line. The result was a big fucking fire. The guy squeals his tires as he leaves the neighborhood again, and the neighbors notice, yet a-mutha fuckin-gain. So they notice the house burning, and call 911. The nearest fire department is located less than two miles from the house lol, so it doesn’t burn to the ground. However it does burn pretty strong, as the gas had permeated the entire volume of the house and thus burnt almost every inch of it before it was extinguished. So once the fire department is done with the fire, the neighbors pitch in and the police are soon looking for a 19-year-old dumbass driving a black car. The arsonist freaks out because he finds out he has all these witnesses to his moronicity (sic) and he turns himself in and gives up the whole plan to the police investigators. So the arsonist goes to prison, the homeowner that paid the arsonist to be an arsonist goes to prison.

BUSTED!
Monetary gain= $0.00
What a fag. Anyways that’s the story, here’s the egg.

Examination:
I started out by driving by and taking pictures in the day time. I was very wary of the fact that these were some nosy goddamned neighbors, so I tried my best to be inconspicuous. Here are some pictures I took of the place:

These pictures are all taken while driving down a street that goes through the neighborhood. As you can see, cars going down this road can easily see the front of the house:

Notice the two atriums on the side of the house. The one closest to the front of the house was used as the entry point.
And these pictures were taken while driving down the street that the driveway opens into (perpendicular to the other street):

Now, after going across this house during the day and night, I got a good idea of how it was laid out. I decided that I would have a look at the note that they post of abated houses like this one (can be seen between the two garages in previous pictures.) I wanted to see how dangerous this place was before I took a gander around inside. So I went at night, and came to 3 conclusions:

1.That this was going to be a very sensitive place to be in. From the “Comments” section (LOL!) I found that it had severe roof damage, window damage, and “wood shingles with nails laying all over ground,” not to neglect “safety hazards.” This much was expected; I was relieved to see that actual structural damage was not included in these comments. BTW ******** County, it’s “lying” not “laying”

2.I noticed that the front door had the hands switched, so that the locks opened from the outside. That just seemed too easy: I unlocked the locks and gave it a thump with my shoulder, but it wouldn’t budge. I worked my trusty pick around and found that the deadbolt was engaged, even though the locking lever (as seen in picture) was disengaged. This meant that the lock was fucked. This also meant that to gain access to the other side of this door I could A) unscrew the lock from the outside, dismantle it, take both sides apart, work the bolt back with a screw driver, move onto the latch bolt (located below the deadbolt,) and then open the door and put everything back where I found it OR B) pursue a different method of infiltration. This frontal entry method was okay by me if it was the only option, but I decided I would explore other opportunities for penetration (I mean on the house sicko!)

In case you were wondering, that sign hanging on the doorknob was for a furniture sale. I couldn’t help but laugh a little.

3.I checked out other ways I could enter the house. I went to the garage and saw that it was open maybe 5 inches. I tried budging the garage a little, to no avail.

The ideal method for entry seemed to be at one of the atriums along the side of the house (as seen from some of the pictures of the front of the house):

I could lift this wooden section on the left and work on the window out of site of bypassers. I chose this method over that of the front door, for the reason that it would provide better coverage; as both methods were going to take at least 3 minutes of time to acquire entry. I was sacrificing my principle of absolute stealth, as I would be leaving evidence behind. I decided that I would rather work under cover and leave a little evidence behind than in broad view of neighbors, while leaving no physical evidence behind. This way, there would be no witnesses to me actually entering the residence; as there could be if I spent 3 minutes fidgeting the door and then just walked in at plain view from the neighbors across the street.

Infiltration:
I came back another night and jumped into the atrium. I cut a line across the corner of one of the windows with a glass cutter, in a location where I could reach through and open the window by turning a crank. After heating up the fractures in the pane with a propane torch, I popped the first pane of glass with an automatic center punch (look at that sweet impact mark) and cut the second pane of glass. Shortly after doing so, I used my automatic center punch yet again on that second pane of glass. The following picture shows what it looked like after busting through the first pane of glass. I used my glove as a cushion to minimize the sound of the shatter. As you can see in the picture, the glass broke nicely, right along the line I cut, without looking too obvious that it was a controlled fracture. I carefully taped up the pane as to prevent glass from getting all over the place. I’ll go more in depth at the end of this egg on my method of insertion, to save those of you who don’t care from falling asleep.

After gaining access to the other side of the window, I reached through and worked the handle, but it didn’t budge. Although I could hear and feel the mechanism working through the window crank, the window seemed to be inhibited from opening. I looked around and saw that there was a lock that had been engaged from the inside, preventing the window from breaching. I knew that I could just cut the window again, on the other side of the window, but then entry would be too obvious, due to the fact that since the glass on modern storm windows is tempered, it would have caused both panes to shatter slowly, making a lot of noise and a very sticky mess by the time I left. You never want to cut tempered glass in two places, the fractures in the glass have a tendency to spread and branch to one another, causing fragments of the sheet to fall out piece by piece. This is very noisy, supplying a steady fall of broken glass at random intervals while you infiltrate the residence. I prefer to take as few risks as possible, and breaking the whole goddamn window just sounded like too much noise and too much glass embedded in the bottoms of my shoes, linking me to the area. So I left for the night and went to a hardware store the next day.

Here’s where the window crank was located as seen from the hole in the window. picture was taken later, after window had been opened.

Here’s where the lock was located, on the other end of the window. Apologies for ambiguity, more focused pictures will be presented shortly.

Intermission:
I went to a hardware store that was in the area and bought the thinnest welding rod I could find.

Continuation:
I returned to the place I was staying at after purchasing a new set of pliers for manipulating my rod (pervert.) Once there, I folded it in half one way, and made a small hook at one of the ends. Thus constructed, it allowed me to conceal the instrument in my jacket very effectively. I went by again and noticed that:

A) a mailbox had been plown over somewhere else in the neighborhood:

B) Some home depot truck was in front of the house, shit! And some people were working on it. I have no idea what they could possibly be doing. Here’s a picture of the wood they left behind:

This worried me a little (the people working on the house, not the mailbox,) so I decided to act soon. I went back that same week and went into action.

Intermission:
Oh and in case you’re wondering here’s what I wore:

Baggy jeans over black sweatpants, so that I could take them off and put them in a mailbox/under a tree when I closed in.

A skimask folded two ways so that it looked like a skull cap. I could just pull the “brim” down and my face would be completely concealed. This way I could drive to the point of entry while wearing the same gear I would be infiltrating the place in.

I cut the top portion of a T-Shirt off, and pulled it over my head, making it look like the neck of a real T-Shirt. I put a black hooded sweatshirt on over this. I could just pull the brightly colored shirt off and toss it once I closed in on the target.

My shoes were low-tread canvas boat shoes.

My gloves were kept in the pouch of my sweatshirt.

Here’s a visualization:

I could easily switch out of the “civilian” outfit in as little as 30 seconds. And reverse back into the civilian outfit in a minute. I like the canvas shoes, because I can put the jeans on/off while keeping the shoes on.

Continuation:
Anyways, I went back to the house and pulled my tool out of the sleeve. I forgot to bring my flashlight this time, so I just turned on Flash Mode on my camera. The following two pictures were taken when the window had already been opened, for viewer clarity.

First, I lifted the lock by reaching through the hole in the glass and working the latch with my tool. I then dropped my tool and turned the window crank, which opened the window. Oh and just so you know, I had to cut another piece of glass when I worked the latch.

You can identify the piece of glass I cut as the one peeled out from the frame.

Here’s the window as it is opened, HIGH FIVE!

This is what the window looked like when I left the scene. Upon first glance, it looks like some neighborhood punk just kicked it in. All pieces of glass were removed silently by applying strips of tape to them, wear upon they were laid on a thick towel, and wrapped up. This minimized the noise immensely, and were people sleeping in the house at the time, they most likely would not have woken. The argument can be made that the center punch would be too loud as it was used to make an impact fracture, which reverberated throughout the entire window, “no doubt making enough noise to awaken a hypothetical occupant of the household;” but were that argument made I would rebut with the fact that I could just as easily use a blow torch to silently heat each fracture and cause the cut segment of glass to come out in one piece, with very little noise caused at all. You can see the singe marks around the frame of the window were I did use a blow torch to ease the fractures, which made the automatic center punch a pure luxury that saved time, since I did not have to worry about no occupants of no house to worry about. An additional argument could be made that the tape would make a lot of noise, this can easily be rebutted as well: I could use a silicone sealant to adhere the fractured glass to a burlap cloth, which could be peeled away and thrown in a lake, 100% silence.
FYI: If done properly, the sound made by fracturing and fragmenting glass can be maintained to be no louder than the sound made by cutting the glass
P.S. I left one fragment of glass on the sill there, as to give the impression that the broken glass was caused by an act of vandalism for the purpose of vandalism (rather than a method employed for entering the residence.)

Well that’s just about all on how I got in and out, if you have any questions, PM me or leave them in the comments.

My next egg will be on my exploration of the house itself.
