If it says that message it means it didnt update or something went wrong during the update, try update and make sure you leave it as it is, and everything is updated.

If you already have steam create an account then, uninstall it! then do everything that this egg says to do and you should be ok. i have the error message that said something like cannot locate steam.exe main. but if you do this it should work!!
