1. Scissors
2. Tape
3. Wire of some sorts (Speaker wire for ex.)
4. Aluminum Foil
5. Bunny Ears from a TV or if your Stereo comes with them... (or both)
You will also need a dish shaped object such as...
A small lamp shade
If you want something stronger, a garbage can lid
But, if you want to get really extreme; an umbrella!
Take your dish shaped object, and proceed to cover it with Aluminum Foil.
Do this until it is fully covered like so...
**** Make sure your aluminum foil is tightly wrapped, touching all together.
If you don’t, the power of this device will not be at it’s full potential. **** ________________________________________________________________________________
Step 2:
After making sure your dish is tightly wrapped in foil, and will not fall apart proceed to attach the bunny ears.
In mine, I attached them at the top, I have used two in my design to further increase the effectiveness.
Q: Whats wrong, it’s not working?
A: Well make sure that all your wires are properly connected, and the aluminum foil is all touching.
Q: How come I can’t hear any new radio stations?
A: Well that could be because of two things.
1. Theres no other radio station close enough to you.
2. This is a home made device, capable of aquiring a better reception and close radio stations; in other words, other radio stations are too far.
Q: It’s still fuzzy, I thought it would make it better?
A: This could be because the station is sending out a bad signal (unlikely) or there is something wrong with your radio.
It could also just be some interference like mountains, in which case this dish would not help.
If worst comes to worst, and this does not work you can create this...
A giant aluminum ball with no purpose except a never ending note of failure.
However this one in the picture is just mine after cleaning up; no failure involved.
Nov 23, 2007 11:21 am - For the most part, aluminum foil scatters the wave.
Take a flashlight, and a piece of foil into a dark room. Shine your flashlight at the wall. Not how much light there is. Now, look in the mirror, while shining the light at the foil.
The light gets scattered because of all of the folds and creases in the foil.
Your best bet would be strips of mylar laid FLAT on the umbrella.
I hate to see hard work gone un rewarded though, so 5*.
Wow...Maybe it was the long bunny ears that helped so much then? lol
But thnx for the 5*

I learned the same lesson trying to rig up a reflector for an aquarium light. I figured that out, and then I made a parabolic reflector out of some mylar and cardboard, and its 2x as efficient as it was with the foil, because there were no creases.
Nov 24, 2007 11:31 am - iv had the same problem many times before... guess what i did?
took an assload of car antennae and attached them and took a metal garbage can lid and ran my tower of antenne through the middle... worked VERY nicely.. this looks like it wont do much but you put effort into it so ill give you a 5
