I didn’t think to search for this until after I spent an hour and a half working on it so I’m gonna post it anyway, plus the other egg about it was shitty as hell(in my opinion)

This egg is about Making and using the Koppo Fighting stick, which is also known as a yawara bo(literal translation:jujitsu stick)for the purpose of simplicity I will only be referring to it as the Koppo.
The Koppo is an amazingly efficient weapon as it is small lightweight, easily concealed, and best of all:legal.
It can be used for both offensive fighting as well as defensive,It is easy to use and can be a formidable weapon even in the hands of someone with no martial arts background,But I digress...

1.Making Your Koppo
the construction of the koppo is fairly straight forward,it is a stick approximately 6 1/2\\\\\\" long by 3/4\\\\\\" thick with a loop for your two center fingers(see picture)
the loop is affixed by inserting the ends of a thin rope through two holes drilled in the stick and then tying knots in the ends.
the stick itself can either be a dowel bought from the store or just a stick from outside(as is mine)
if You make it from a stick found outside make sure you start with a stick twice as thick as the desired koppo and shave it down, this will ensure that it is the hard, strong wood from the core of the limb.
Once the loop is on use a rasp/sand paper to round off the edges and smooth it all out,I even went so far as to put a few coats of urethane on after wards.
Now we can get on to the anatomy of the koppo:

These are the terms I will use throughout the Egg.
notice the corners are not actually corners as they are rounded, but provide a smaller surface area and therefore focus pressure onto a smaller area.
also not in the picture is your \\\\\\"off hand\\\\\\" this is the hand not holding the koppo

OFFENSIVE STRIKES
1.Hammerfist:A hammerfist is when the butt of the koppo is used to strike an opponent.
2.stab:A stab is when the head of the koppo is used to strike an opponent.
3.slap:A slap is when the face of the koppo is used to strike an opponent.

These strikes are used mainly to cause pain to your opponent, though they can(and eventually will)cause some serious damage,I have Given people mild concussions and broken collar bones with the koppo(yes, the one in the pictures)And with that in mind we can move on.
The offensive strike are most effective when used against hard parts of the body such as the head, sternum, outer joints(elbow, knee,&c),collar bones, shins, ribs, and spine.
and remember, when you hit somebody their hands will almost always go towards the source of the pain, use this as an opportunity to strike again, after a while You will be able to bring most foes to the ground with just two or three well placed koppo strikes.

DEFENSIVE TECHNIQUES
1.palm blockA palm block is when the face of the koppo is used to block or deflect an attack with another weapon, such as a bat or a club
When the palm block is used you should wait until impact and then move your arm to deflect the energy in the blow, while simultaneously going in for some sort of punch or lock with your off hand.
that\\\\\\’s about it for defensive techniques aside from disarming an opponent, but we\\\\\\’ll get to that later
and remember:
The best defense is a good offense,Try to counter attack sometimes instead of just defending.
Counter attacking is a great way to gain an upper hand.

LOCKS
A lock is when you use your own body to restrain an opponent.
There aren\\\\\\’t really any koppo specific locks, but the koppo is a great tool for modifying existing locks.
1.Small joint manipulation(finger lock)
Sorry i don\\\\\\’t have any pictures to help explain this but I only have two hands.
holding your koppo in your fist place your thumb on top of the head,You should have a small window between your thumb and the stick, this window is where you want your opponents finger.
once you have their finger in there they don\\\\\\’t have any chance of getting it back, from this lock you can either band their finger back causing them sever pain and possibly breaking their finger or you can simply yous this to move them where you want them to go ie.into a position where you can get behind them and choke them out.
2.wrist lock:A wrist lock is essentially them same as a finger lock...only on the wrist, here You place the head of the koppo into the small groove between your opponents lower thumb and wrist bone and place your thumb on the groove in the other side.
3.Hindlock:for this you will need to be behind your opponent,to get an idea of it make your hands into fists and push your knuckles against each other(palms down)next put you fist on you chest(so that your thumbns are against your chest)You will see two opening between your biceps and forearms, this is where your opponents arms will be.so that they are pulled backwards from the sides, you can now press the butt of your koppo into their spin.
note:this is also a very useful lock even without the koppo.

DISARMING
Disarming an opponent armed with a knife is fairly simple once you get the hang of it(though very dangerous to practice in the real world)

the main idea of disarming a knife wielding opponent is that you use the corner of the koppo to push aside the main tendon in the wrist and apply pressure to the median nerve beneath it,this is extremely painful if done correctly, should cause the persons grip to slacken. It can also be used as a pressure point against foes without weapons.

PRESSURE POINTS
The koppo is also used for applying pressure to pressure points
we\\\\\\’ve all heard of these and probably even know some they are points on the body which, when pressure is applied...hurt like hell.
I could spend all day trying to explain them to you but it makes more sense to just put up some pictures from the web,as I would just end up confusing you,and we don\\\\\\’t need that.

Here is a site with some good pressure points, all of which can be accentuated with the use of the koppo
http://members.aol.com/paroleinfo/PRESSURE.HTM
(one of my favorites is the mandibular angle, check it out)
Eye gouges are also very effective, though not for everyone.
___________________________________________________
Well that\\\\\\’s about it I suppose,If you have any questions or trouble understanding anything feel free to ask.
thanks for reading.
And remember to always use your imagination,don\\\\\\’t be affraid to use a new strike or make up your own when the opportunity arrises.
-trooper.
