Parkour
Ok hey again RE members, in my previous egg some of you said
“Keep the parkour eggs coming”
So that’s what I’ll do :)
Now I’m assuming most of you don’t do parkour so ill give you a run down.
Flips are not parkour, that is freerunning
Parkour is getting from Point A to Point B as quick as possible. (Flow)
Freerunning is doing flips in joined with parkour but you don’t necessarily go for a run…
Now I’ve seen all these eggs on RE of people just c/p pages worth of information that just says to get fit eat healthy blah blah blah…
No-one wants to do that, we just wanna get out there and do it :)
A few first basic tricks ill teach you are… (in this egg)
-vault
-cat leap
-wall run
- dive roll
The vault
First of all…
There are many types of vaults; I will start of by teaching you some of the simplest.
-Normal
-180 vault
-Kong
-lazy
-360 vault
-Dash
Errrr… I couldn’t find any footage of me doing a dash vault so heres a video :)
Ok first up...
The vault :P
*Stand close your vault with your hands right around it.
*Swing your body back stretching out your arms
*Jump and pull yourself up in one motion
*Move both legs to your appropriate side
*Drop of and down onto the other side :)
180 Vault
*Stand close your vault with your hands right around it.
*one hand palm facing downwards the other palm facing upwards (this is so that when you’re on the other side of your vault your hand doesn’t get bent around backwards.
*Swing your body back stretching out your arms
*Jump and pull yourself up in one motion
*start to move your body around in your preferred direction
*take one hand of
*grab back on with the same hand on the other side of your hand as you start to fall back down on the other side
*brace your feet and land back down on whatever it is that your landing on
Kong
(You don’t have to vault things this far at first you work up to it)
A kong is just a vault where you dive into the vault and your legs go between your arms not on either side
Start with a small dive and gradually make the dive longer..
*approach your vault with sum decent speed
*jump early leaning forwards with your hands out front
*make your hands make contact with the table taking a considerable amount of weight
*push hard and forwards as your legs catch up to you and swing through your arms
*leg go with your arms and be pushed forwards with the forwards momentum of your legs and land back on the ground :)
Lazy
*aproach your vault sideways
*place your hand closest to your vault on first (sideways)
*jump and push hard on your hand in one motion
*swing your legs up and around
*place your other hand on the table
*push with this hand to make sure your legs make it over the vault
360 vault
*approach your vault sideways
*place your closest hand on the vault
*start to swing your body around as you grab on with your other hand
*jump up and bring your legs around and over the vault as you let go with the hand that you put on first
*as you body keeps spinning let go with your other hand
*land :P
Dash
*run towards your vault and jump up as if you’re going to land on your but
*keep yourself in this seat position until your halfway past your vault
*put both hands down on either side of you on the vault
*push hard forwards*
*bring your chest up and your legs down and land back on the ground
Cat leap
*run and jump or something :P
*as you fly through the air have both your arms up ready to grab on
*lean your legs forward also ready to brace
(If your feet are landing on a very thing area [like mine are in my gif] focus most of your attention to landing on your feet )
*be careful not to slip as your legs and feet land.
(If your cat leaping onto a wall...
Point your feet diagonally upwards as you land so that your toes and the upper part of your foot are on the wall, and if you jumped a long distance it is most likely your legs will then slide down, you can then pull yourself up :)
Wall run
*aproach the wall with as much spped as you can
*run into the wall/ leap into the wall pushing your upper foot hard against it
*push out and up hard...hard!!
*stretch your body out
*grab on
(Remember push OUT and up not just up...
cause think about it, its physically impossible to push "up" of a vertical wall)
Dive roll
*dive into the air angling yourself
*put your hands out in front of you
*as your hands land on the ground your body should be even more angled
* tuck your head in
*roll your shoulder over yourself spreading the weight out evenly
Hard to explain that one- just try it till you get the feel for it, starting without a dive just the roll, keep doing it till you get confident to try a little jump/dive and gradually build the length of the dive up :)

Dec 17, 2007 10:40 am - Great stuff, have a nice big shiny 5***** from me! Looks to me whoyathink like you are quite the acrobatic character. Parkour is a great sport, if only I didn’t live in the country! If I lived in/near a city, I would sure as hell do it, I’ve tried that kind of stuff, it’s great fun.
