Hello. In this two part egg I am going to show you how to mod your slim ps2 to play ps1 backups and prepare it for ps2 ones. This will not void your warranty in anyway .
First off the supplies needed: Slim ps2 (duh)
Masking Tape
Tissue
Straw
Scissors
Next you need to understand what this is going to do. There are 3 sensors that we are going to be blocking. Blocking them will make the ps2 think the disc area is closed when it is actually open. This is crucial to loading backups.
Sensor #1 This sensor is directly above the power switch.
To block this sensor we will need a small piece of tissue.
Just go ahead and cram it in so it looks like this.
Congratulations, sensor 1 is blocked.
Sensor #2 Sensor two is right next to the laser.
This one is uber-easy, just tape it back. Be careful to make the tape lie flat to avoid the disc hitting it whilst the ps2 is on.
Sensor #3 This one is the hardest.
Get your straw and cut off about an inch worth.
To make sure you get this one, power on your ps2 and wiggle the straw around. If the laser moves while the disc area is open go ahead and tape it down.
Okay great job all the sensor are blocked but...
What the hell do I do now?? 1.Obtain an iso of a ps1 game you would like to play.
2.Burn the iso image file to a CD-R 3.Hook up your modded playstation 2 and pop in an ORIGINAL ps1 game.
4.Now if you did this right the disc will spin even though the tray is open.
5.Now when you get to the black screen with just the playstation logo.
Take your game that is spinning out(yes you heard right, take it out!)And quickly swap it with your backup!
6.If done correctly the playstation copy will boot up.
Q&A Q:My disc won’t spin while the tray is open.
A: You did something wrong go back and check the sensors.
Q:Why would I want to do this?
A:For umm "archival purposes". Or you’re a pirate =].
Q:Where do I get an iso?
A:Extract one from a disc or google it.
Q:Is this legal?
A:How the hell should I know? Probably, but then the question is "Am I Going to get caught?"
Q:"Am I Going to get caught?"
A:Probably not, no.
Thanks for reading, part 2 showing how to play PS2 backups will be up shortly.
Dec 24, 2007 11:44 am - We bought a mod chip for our PS1 that let us burn games and play them. We would rent them from blockbuster, make a copy, and return them. It was pretty badass.
5* to counteract the 0* that the faggot who buys his points voted.
does that mean you have to use the original copy 2 start up the backup every time you want 2 play the copy.
No, you just have to use an original game, Any game doesnt matter which one, and once you have the game put inside you remove it like it says in the instructions and insert any copy.
