Hello Jo0 here to show you guys how to Short Wire mod your Wii with a WiiKey (a modchip for the wii). Credits go to chipD of PsX-Scene
This is how and where the WiiKey should be on the dvd drive.
If your Dvd Drive has missing solder points where the wii should be on the picture above this diagram shows you where to solder on the chip next to it in case there are missing solder points.
Theres a few reasons to use shortwire method:
1. It’s the cleanest looking method
2. The wires are short for a good connection
3. It holds the wiikey inplace while you solder
4. Since theres no wires to route,less chance of a short.
Theres a couple reasons to NOT use shortwire method:
1. If your Wii is in a confined area and it gets hot easily the solder might have a chance of softening up
2. Kind of difficult for a newbie at soldering
Next strip kynar by holding one end of the wire on a table and press an exacto knife down while spinning it with your fingers.
Next use a tooth pick to dab a tiny amount of flux on to each pad you are soldering on.
Note: Do not add solder to the points on the Wii there is enough solder for you to work with already.
Now we are going to add a bead of solder on the tip of a tin wire.
To do this use a wet sponge or paper towel, we put a little solder onto the tip and then wipe it off with the wet sponge or paper towel.
Now place one of the wires onto one of the wii’s pads and since the flux is some what sticky it should help prevent it from sliding off the pad as you hold it in place.
Note: I don’t recommend using a wire with a bead on the chip if you are missing solder points on the board. You may bridge connections and render your wii useless.
Now while holding the wire onto the pad, quickly touch it with the tip of the iron.
Don’t forget to clean the irons tip with the wet sponge/paper towel after each wire.
This is how it should look when you’ve done all six wires.
Note: This may not look like what you have done if you have missing solder points. If you have missing solder points some wires may be on the chip as stated in the diagram at the very top.
Next stand up the wires,and gently lower the chip, feeding the two top wires through the holes on the wiikey chip, and placing it down onto the wii’s pad area.
Now apply a dab of flux on each solder point on the chip and use a mini flat head screwdriver and gently fold each wire over its corresponding point on the chip.
Now clean your tip and apply a small bead of solder, and quickly touch the iron to the wiikeys pad.
After each wire cut off the excess wire.
Now make sure everything looks nice and clean.
AND WE ARE DONE!
Now its time to put everything back together ,burn wiikeys setup disc (which you can find on its official site http://www.wiikey.cn or on torrent sites.) and see if it works.
