How to: Use AR cheats with a DS Flashcart....

Revolution 4 for Nintendo DS is a flashcart and microSD combo that allows you to play roms on your offical NDS hardware. (You pirates!)

Games are .nds files put into the mircoSD card via a usb reader. But what if you stink at games and need cheats? You can add them directly to your r4. (This only works for M3 Simply and R4 brands of flashcarts.)

** I don’t have photos of my DS at the moment - my camera’s memory is fubared.

Materials Needed
- microSD card with r4 firmware [b}(v1.11+ needed!)[/b]
- a computer with ’net access
- some Action Replay cheats

1) Download the "Cheat Code Editor v1.01" @ http://www.r4ds.com/download-en.htm

2A) Find Action Replay codes @ codejunkies.com

2B) Make sure you click the right country for your games!

3) Plug in your microSD card and reader

4) Extract the "Cheat Code Editor" rar file to anywhere on your desktop.

5) Open Cheat Code Editor



6A) Choose "Add Game" to add a game. Here I’m using Animal Crossing Wild World as an example.



6B) Type in the game name.

6C) Copy and paste the hexadecimal "game id" from the Codejunkies site to the field on the Cheat Code Editor.



7A) Choose "Add Code" to add a code. (Animal Crossing is one of the few that needs an activation code called an "master" code.)

7B) Copy and paste the code into the required fields. Make sure there isn’t a space at the end of the hexadecimal numbers.



8) Do this for each code you want.

9) Save it as usrcheat.dat. (For some reason, the window says "Open" when you go to save it.)



10) Move file to your _system_ folder on your r4. (You can delete that CHEAT.DAT file to save some minimal space.)





11) Put card back into r4, and activate the cheat menu with a Y button press. (When highlighting game that you would like to cheat in.)

** My next egg is how to patch Chinese firmware for the r4.
