First off, this is legal.
Songbird:
"Songbird is a desktop media player mashed-up with the Web. Songbird is committed to playing the music you want, from the sites you want, on the devices you want, challenging the conventions of discovery, purchase, consumption and organization of music on the Internet."
Songbird is basically iTunes with built in web browsing, SkreemR, Hypemachine (and it has way more plugins!).
For those who don’t know what SkreemR is, basically like googling to find mp3’s so it’s legal.
The cool thing about songbird is it adds a media scanner to it’s browser, meaning any mp3 links on the page it will give you names and a download button, as well as de5criptions. Example:

Here is a look at their Addons section. VERY similar to firefox’s:
On Install, the program will ask you if you want to download some really nice addons, like iPod support, wma/wmv, mov/mpeg, usb devices...there is also a link on the side by your library to a website to get more addons, which have a kickass install system just like firefox.
And one of the final coolest things about songbird, it is THEMEABLE! People create themes ("feathers") for it and they are in the addons section as well, and install just as easy :)

one flaw i’ve seen is it only lets you download one song at a time. any way to change this?

I know that someone did in a comment but thats bullshit that you should make someone else do it. Its basically a legal limewire which will take longer to find songs and it looks like itunes.. ehen you could just get limewire + itunes and in 5 minutes you could convert 20 songs to your ipod. 0* and on profile
