We know that there are plenty of articles on RE and all over the internet about how to make a simple pipe from an apple. If you don’t know how, you cut a bowl anywhere in the apple and cut a tube through the apple to smoke through. That’s easy and simple enough, but what if you want the added complexity of water? For me, it’s a matter of health. I almost always try to use water to filter my smokeables (note: as drug eggs are supposedly against the rules on RE, this article concerns tobacco (only homegrown tobacco, none of that nasty industrial shit) and legal herbs, for more information, see my egg on legal herbs) to preserve my lungs and to cool the smoke. Plus, it’s really cool.
You’re going to need:
An apple (as crisp as possible)
A knife
Something round and long (about the size of a pen)
An ounce or two of water
I’m sorry, I will include pictures, but they’ll be from MS Paint, as my dad is sitting right here and I can’t really get up and carve an apple bong with him watching.
Step 1:
You’ve got your apple and your materials. Good job, smoker.
Step 2:
Core the apple. Cut a cylindrical hole about an inch or two around (depending on the size of your apple) and three quarters of the way down. Do not cut all the way through, this is the chamber that will hold your water.
Step 3:
This is honestly the hardest part. Cut an angled hole into the apple using your pen or tube or whatever, starting on the side near the top and going down as close to the bottom of the water chamber as possible. Make sure that it is steep enough to keep water from leaking out. You’ll understand later. Also, cut a small cone shape out of the top of the tube hole you cut. This is your bowl.
Step 4:
Fill with water and pack plant matter into the bowl. Make sure the waterline is high enough for bubbling to happen but low enough to stay within the apple. Smoke away and enjoy. Enjoy your new paraphernalia. Eat the apple afterward and avoid any risk at all.
This has been a great solution for me, being concerned with my health and being underage, as apples are not illegal paraphernalia and can be made into smoking accessories anywhere. You’ll see that I also included an explanation on making simple pipes, StalenD, and that the title specifically says that this article is about BUBBLERS, not PIPES. And you’ll see that centuries of human development and innovation has proven that waterpipes are preferred over simple pipes for many reasons, several of which I listed. Thanks for your time, but think about what you write. |

All right, I’m very high right now and am not going to do any thinking what so ever. But to make this you will waste a lot of time. I have tried this myself, and it kind of sucks, if u want a bong, either make one or buy one. Their is no reason to make a bong out of an apple when you can make an apple pipe in less time and WAY less effort, so it is pretty illogical. |

And, if you are talking about making a bong out of a plastic bottle and tinfoil, maybe you don’t understand the incredibly dangerous amount of particulate matter you get in your lungs from those deathtraps. These are a safe, easy, convenient, tasty and fun alternative, and great for underage kids. I excuse you for being high, and I don’t want to bring bad vibes to your fun, but I want to clear the matter up for other readers. |

Actually I made a bong with a pen tube and the bowl from my pipe and a water bottle. Having it plastic will not affect the amount of shit you get into your lungs, if anything it actually catches the resin on its polymeric surface, which reduces the amount of shit. I agree with you on one thing, NEVER USE TINFOIL, aluminum will DESTROY your lungs!! |

Aluminum doesn’t destroy your lungs. When the metal vaporizes, you inhale the harmful metal. The metal is heavier than air, and gets stuck in your lungs. This then enters your bloodstream, and is suspected to cause Alzheimer’s. |

Plastic does do damage, though it may seem minimal, it isn’t. Each particle of smoke is pretty damn hot, and each particle of smoke that touches a particle of plastic has the potential to heat it up and release it into the air you are inhaling. It was wise of you to use a real bowl for the bowl of your bong, but the pen tube and bottle really are dangerous. You’re not going to die right away or anything, and I’m not saying apples are totally safe, but I am saying that apple matter is moist and harder to vaporize, and in the end safer than plastic. I’m just trying to promote some safety, that’s all. |

Tinfoil (aluminum) and plastic don’t release any vapors unless DIRECT heat is applied to it.
Meaning, making a bong out of a plastic bottle is safe, just don’t use tin foil for the screen.

Oh and aluminum fumes don’t cause Alzheimers either. |
