Hello again RE! I’m back with an egg on how to rip DVDs to your computer. The programs I will be using can change it into tons of different formats (iPod, Zune, ect). Now on with the egg!
You will need two programs for this to work. They are both free and I have provided the links.
DVD43 – DVD43 decrypts the DVD and allows you to rip it. It is available here

Handbrake – Handbrake is the other program you need. This is the software that actually rips the DVD. You can get it here http://handbrake.fr/?article=download You’re going to want to download the GUI version.
DVD43 is a very simple program. All it is is a smiley face! If it turns green, the DVD is recognized.
Handbrake is slightly more complex. You will have to change a few settings to get the best video for your device.
Procedure
1) Insert the DVD you wish to burn. I will not say which movie I’m using because I’m guaranteed to get ripped on by someone because of it!
2) Open both programs; again DVD43 is ONLY A SMILEY FACE!
3) In handbrake under “source”, click browse > select the DVD > VIDEO_TS
4) A message should come up saying to wait a minute while it reads the DVD. When it’s done, click “show presets”
5) Select the preset you want. I will use normal because I have a Zune.
6) Now, under destination, click browse then tell it where to put the movie file. You can choose the file type that best fits your needs. I need mp4.
7) Last step! You press “Encode Video.”
YOU’RE DONE! This is what it should look like:
This process takes quite a few hours. I personally leave it overnight.

In about every site offering some program, chances are that there is some Read-Me on how to use it or a community if you have a question for that program.
You’re just showing how to rip a DVD using a program MADE to rip DVDs.
Nothing special.
Feb 02, 2008 7:47 pm - Thanks Danno. I was just trying to make these programs known. If you Google "how to rip DVDs to your iPod" you get a bunch of programs that either suck or cost money. DVD43 and Handbrake have worked really well for me so I thought I would share them with you.

and yet you let us see what other movies you have ripped such as Snakes On A Plane. Thats kind of contradictory, still you have got The Rocky Horror Picture Show up so 4*

but i only need divx/avi. does handbrake do divx?
apollo dvd to ipod works really well for this too.
Feb 03, 2008 10:25 am - the whole point oof making an egg is to show people who dont know. just b/c the egg is showing how to burn a dvd using something meant to do it doesnt mean everyone knows about it. the whole point of making the egg is to show people what programs are available to do it in case someone wants to do but doesnt know what to use.
Feb 04, 2008 10:07 am - 4* for effort but this is useless to me cos all my dvds are downloaded and burned to blank disc with ashampoo 7, there’s probably way better stuff out there but it works for me like this stuff works for you. also nero sucks cos every copy i use gives me shit about pirated this and that and refuses to work.
