Secret Drawer Lock

Alright peeps ,it’s time for me to submit an egg.
I’ve got an idea that many of you can use.
Most everybody has something they wish to hide from
snoops/parents/flat-mates etc...
There are tons of eggs I’ve seen on stashes or
hiding places ,but so far I haven’t seen any-
thing quite like this one.
I invented it myself but it’s so simple ,I doubt
I’m the first one ever to think of it.

It can be pretty baffling for any thief or nosey
dick-brain to figure out , unless they’ve read
this egg ,of course.
So ,let’s get to it.

YOU WILL NEED: 1.) A study desk ,
or a chest of drawers.
2.) A nail about as long
as your finger and thick as
a match-stick.
3.) a block of wood that’ll easily
fit in the drawer.
4.) A hot-glue gun or Epoxy Resin.
5.) A file or a hacksaw (or both).
6.) A drill -With a set of drill
-bits.
7.) A magnet. The stronger the
better.
(I actually used a hard-drive
magnet.)

HOW TO DO IT:
Basically the idea is as simple as anything.
(1.) If you close the drawer that you wish to lock ,then drill through the outer body of the desk AND all the way through ,
(right inside the drawer itself) ,then stick in a nail in the hole all the way ,then ...nobody will be pulling that drawer open ,will they?
Be sure to use a drill-bit that closely matches the
width of the nail ,or is a tiny bit thicker so the nail is a loose fit. This is crucial.
It is also recommended that the hole is drilled close to the back of the drawer (less easily seen.)
(2.) Next you glue a block of wood inside the drawer where it will cover the inside end of the hole you drilled.
This serves as a barrier ,so the nail won’t go all
the way through ,a sort of ’back-stop’ ,if you will.
(3.)Now ,you push the nail in as far as it will go (when the drawer is shut) and mark with a marker pen where the nail is flush with the outside ,and file or hacksaw about half a centimetre behind this line ,so you are cutting off the part of the nail visible ,that will be sticking out.
You’d best use a vise for this part of the procedure.
You must be able to push the ’head-less nail’ in the hole without any part of it being visible. If it were visible it wouldn’t be much of a secret ,would it?
That’s it!
You just push the loose fitting headless nail in the hole using a pin or match or something,
and no-one will be opening that drawer until you unlock it ,that is using a magnet to pull it out!
The drawer will have to be smashed for it’s contents to be revealed and no snoop wants to be that obvious.

OTHER SUGGESTIONS:
You could of course make more than one of these locks for a single drawer. And remember ,if the drawer you’re locking is below the top drawer ,all someone will do is just pull out the drawer above it to access it. So do it with just the top drawer ,or all of them.
