One of the more bland avatars, these still look appealing, and, with a little bit of knowledge with Photoshop, can be surprisingly easy to make. However, this is in no way saying this tutorial is easy, as it can be very tedious for anyone new with this program. All they require is Photoshop 7.0 or later, which can be easily cracked (I mean, purchased legally). For any question on "buying" Photoshop 7.0, just give me a message on RE or add me on MSN.

A little bit of past knowledge about
Photoshop would be useful, but is not
required.

This is an example of what this egg will teach you on making:

Well, here we go. And best of luck!

1. First of all, open Adobe Imageready and select File>New, or you can press Control+N. You will get a popup, for this image I used 70x70 pixels. Remember, it’s always better to use the same number as to get a perfect square on your image.

2. Now, press "T" to get the typing tool up, and drag across your little white square. Now, select your font and type something. You can adjust the size on the bar. For this image I used 11 px for the size, Arial for the font and Bold as the font style.

3. Now, go to the layers box, which can be found here:

and make sure the text layer is selected, and press "Control+J" to duplicate the layer. Now select the Move tool (press "V"), make sure the duplicated layer is selected, and tap the up triangle key on your keyboard a number of times. Remember how many times you pressed it, as you will have to do this again.
I pressed the up button 12 times. I now have this:

4. Now comes the tricky part. You now need to select the newest text layer, press "Control+J" and move it up th same amount of times as you did previously. You need to do this until you can no longer see the text on your work anymore, and even when that happens, you need to do it one last time. Now you need to go to the very first text layer, or the original one, and press "Control+J", and do the same amount of taps that you did to all the other ones, but now you have to do it DOWNWARDS. (If you’ve got what I have, you’ve done the trickiest part. Well done). :)
This is what I have now:

5. Now, go the the top layer in the layer box, and press "Control+E" to merge the layer with the one below. Do this to every single layer EXCEPT the background layer (which will be locked anyway).
Your layers box should looks something like this:

6. Here is the most important part; the animation.
In your animation box, which is this:

You will see there is already a box there. Now, look at the image above. See I have targeted out a little arrow button? Press that and press "New Frame". Now, with the move tool selected "Control+V", and with the layer with the text on it selected, hit the down triangle button on your keyboard twice. Now keep doing this, and every time you do, press the play button (The button with a triangle pointing right) and see if it is scrolling smoothly. If not, hit the stop button (the square) and do another frame, with the image moved downwards twice. Do this until you have a smooth moving image.

7. Now, to save. Press File-Save Optimized As... and save it somewhere you’ll remember.

If you managed to complete this tutorial, congratulations! It is not a simple one. Now use the image as an avatar on Rotten Eggs or any internet forum. Enjoy!
