An epic journey into a breathtaking place- All experienced by running_with_scissors

I cant be fucked explaining what it is so allow WikiPedia to enlighten you

Quote:
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The main entrance to the temple proper, seen from the eastern end of the Naga causeway
Angkor Wat (or Angkor Vat) a World Heritage Site, is a temple at Angkor, Cambodia, built for King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre since its foundation—first Hindu, dedicated to Vishnu, then Buddhist. The temple is the epitome of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country’s prime attraction for visitors.
Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the temple mountain and the later galleried temple. It is designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the gods in Hindu mythology: within a moat and an outer wall 3.6 km (2.2 miles) long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the centre of the temple stands a quincunx of towers. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Angkor Wat is oriented to the west; scholars are divided as to the significance of this. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs and for the numerous devatas (guardian spirits) adorning its walls.

So, on with the egg.
I went to Vietnam and Cambodia with my family, so that pretty much explains it.
We were staying in the town of Siem Reap, which is obviously in Cambodia. Siem Reap is located 5 kilometers from Angkor Wat, which means tourism is pretty much the main income source for those poor little Asians there, apart from people selling rotten fish and shit at the market. It was around 4.30pm, when we hopped on 2 tuk tuks (2 people a tuk tuk) and went to Angkor Wat for the sunset, which is meant to be very pretty.
We arrived, and this is the first thing we saw when there.

Okay, lots of tourists. Mostly Asians with their Nikons.

This is walking up a long, gentle slope to get to the top of one of the structures. I wonder why that one asian dude is not blurred and everyone else is.

Even more walking. Sigh. Maybe basketball shoes weren’t such a good idea to take.

Steps that were roped off, but led off from the path. I wonder where they went. Well it didn’t look like I was going to find out because of the warnings and all the security dudes there.

First look at one of the structures. Looks impressive, I must say.

Diff. Angle.

Diff. Angle yet again.

Different perspective, yet again.

More different angles to come!
Just kidding. Whatever.

Why must Asians invade everywhere on Earth? This is the line to get up.

A unique structure.

Looking out from top of structure.

More structures, these ones on top of the big structure.

Just a picture.

Another structure.

I probably should have changed my camera settings. Whatever.

Picture

Balloon

Looking out at some form of lake

Another structure

Another structure

Looking over other side

Structure… WITH FUCKING TOURISTS IN THE WAY

More of same

More of same

Coming down on opposite side we came up

Looking back

Some elephants, not a very clear image though

Some rock

Last look at a structure on the way out
Thanks for reading my egg, I hope you enjoyed looking at this great architecture.
Want to see more of it? Look out for my future eggs! I went back the next day and looked at all the other Angkor Structures!

That’s if I can be fucked uploading and doing all the shit
Rate this shit 8 please

Really good exploration egg. but you could’ve done some research and put informational things into it instead of just saying "another structure"

Thanks to everyone who rated 5.

Would anyone like to see another egg with the whole Angkor complex? It contains other groups of structures such as Angkor Thom and stuff, plus the BIG Angkor Wat, as in what I would call the best one out of them all.

0* all you did was take a picture of the same thing over and over and over how did you guys think this was a good egg. It gave me a headache it sucked so bad

running_with_scissors

M r 01, 2008 8:07 pm -
If I were taking a picture of the same thing over and over then it would be the same image 25 times over.

Think again, moron.

Exploration eggs are for showing places most people would never see, and this certainly qualifies. The complainers saying "it’s just a rock" are like the American tourists there who probably marched through with their iPods in their ears, and never even looked up from their telephones, which they used for sending and receiving text messages while completely ignoring their surroundings.

I have some mean photos of the Cu Chi tunnels, the De-Militarised zone, Sapa, Ho Chi Minh Museum etc.
