MY dad is an auto mechanic and I borrowed A red spray paint can Theres two methods you can use but i take it none of youse want to spend around 20$ when you can do a good job for 10 dollars.
1.spray paint any colour of choive 5$
2.sandpaper prefferably 80 grit just ask your hardweare shop for 5$ worth theyl give you tons.
3.A sponge
5.top cote around 5$ in a spray can
1.Get you bike you can do this on a mountain bike bmx or any tipe of a bike.
2.Take all the parts off your bike so it is just the naked frame wheels handlebars pedals sprockets etc.
3.If you have stickers on your bike you can get them off but some you cant because there under your paint so to get your stickers off just get a hairdryer and heat it up so it gets hot then peel it off. When there is sticky residue on your bike after the sticker get some wd 40 and spray it on the residue then whipe it off with your sponge.
4.Then clean the rest of your bike frame dirt mud etc.
5.now youve just got your frame with the paint job you have when you bought it stole it etc .
6.Now get your sandpaper and sand the frame down to the bare metal so its scratchy and no paint left on it then lay one side of your frame on newspaper so the other side will be on the bottom of the newspaper this wey none of your frame will get dirty from dirt grass etc.
7.Get your spray paint Aim the can about 20cm away from your frame then put a light coat of your choice paint on that way it will not run down and make drip marks wait for 5 minutes then apply another light coat repeat this 3 times but make sure you give it 5 minutes to dry per coat.
8.After your last coat wait 20 minute then apply your top coat with a thick layer in the reason you apply this is to protect your bike from rain water rust and paint peling etc.
9.Then repeat on the other side of your bike. When done regrease all you parts and put your bike back together this will also make it run alot better.
Mar 25, 2008 4:40 am - 1. Raw frame.
2. Apply two - four coats of prime
3. Lightly rough primer.
4. Light coat of paint - should be able to see primer
5. continue with the light coats, do not spray too thick or paint will run and chip.
6. keep going with light coats you need many.
7. Make sure you leave to dry between coats then leave to cure for 24 hours.
8. add 2-3 coats of clear coat.
Mar 25, 2008 6:48 am - Have you ever sanded a bike frame to bare metal? Takes a lot of work, and isn’t necessary. Just rough up the original paint, and prime over that. Also, anywhere you spray WD40, use a cleaner to remove the oily residue. And instead of laying it on paper, hang it by the neck tube or crank loop with a coat hanger from a tree or something. Do both sides at the same time. It’ll look a lot better. Avoid drips on the topcoat by spraying it in multiple thinner coats instead of one thick coat.
Mar 25, 2008 12:10 pm - 1*. you showed no specific detail about stroke patterns, fixing drips, and you said(typed) things like:cote, tipe, and wey. pics would have made it interesting too, especially if they were off of google.
but this 1 isnt supposed to be a 0 so thank you, come again.
