Many of the things we waste our money on really hurt the enviroment. This egg is a list of simple things that anyone can buy in order to help our planet.

1. Buying a water filter and filling your own bottles of water will reduce the waste caused by plastic bottles and could save you up to $600 a year. I have the filter pictured below attached to my kitchen sink.

2. Buying flourescent light bulbs is a good choice because they use less energy and can last up to 10 times longer than traditional light bulbs. Make sure to buy the correct wattage or else you are just wasting electricity.

3. Buy a cloth bag to use when you’re shopping so you don’t have to use plastic bags. I know that Wal-Mart has them for $1 and I’m sure other places sell them to.

4. Buy organic cotton clothing. It usually says on the tag whether its organic or not. Or you could buy clothes made from hemp but there are’nt many places that sell them.
5. Buy organic fruits and vegetables. Not only are they healthier for you, they don’t use pesticides which means they don’t damage the land.
6. Buy food in bulk in order to cut down on the waste caused by excess packaging. Sam’s Club and CostCo are good places to buy bulk goods.
7. Buy natural cleaning products. They use up to 99% all natural materials which means they’re bio-degradable and are made from renewable resources.

8. If you’re a coffee drinker then buy coffee which is either Fair Trade Certified, USDA Certified Organic, or Rainforest Alliance Certified. This means they are being grown by farms which are in the process of going green.
9. Buy other natural foods such as Sun Chips or Nature Valley because they are healthier and better for the environment.

10. Buy paper and canned goods which are already made from recycled materials. This cuts down on waste and helps to save raw materials like trees.

Trust me the world is not going to explode or be any more contaminated than it already is. Like the guy above said. You’ve been brainwashed by tree huggers.

Well...he is actually right about saving money.

And by recycling, it is going to reduce your gas bill for your car.

Plastic comes from the same source....

So if you don’t belive in global warming, and such.

You can belive in saving lotsa money, to spend on yourself.

I’m not saying there is anything which proves global warming.
Nor am I saying that the world will explode.
All I’m saying is that I walk down the street every day and see the trash piling up. I’ve been to landfills and have seen how much shit we, as a society, waste. I just think that people should know some of the small things they can do to reduce waste.
Plus, like Orange Juice said, you can save alot of money by buying these rather inexpensive objects.

If it saves money e.g. insulation + double glazing I will do it but we are actually in the middle of an ice age right now. an ice age is defined by the fact that we have ice at the poles. So when people say that the ice caps are melting it’s really just nature.

Organic products usually cost more than inorganic, since it cost more to grow the same size banana organically than inorganically so I am spending extra money here. 1*

Just another one of the idiots that believe all the shit lies that the media puts out...So what if you buy food in bulk? because you dont use the packages, means that someone else will, which means you did nothing...
Eating organic foods? wow... just a few people eating "organic" food wont do SHIT...plus, so what if pesticide gets into the water? what do you think they made water filtration for? Finally theres a use for your "pur" water thing...
Humans are so stuck up that they think they are causing global warming, when in fact we are nothing...Earth goes through warm, and cold cycles every few yrs (i dont know the number...its like every 10k yrs or something)
A few yrs back scientists were saying Earth was in danger of an "ice age" and everything would turn to ice...well turns out they were WRONG.

I thought all fruits and vegetables are organic.

Flourescent light bulbs are overrated. Its true that they convert about 20% of the energy into light and normal light bulbs 5%, but the 95% don’t get wasted, they heat up your room.
If you install flourescent light bulbs in rooms where you only use them a minute like a toilette they will age much faster and don’t last 10 times longer.
Normal light bulbs are not made of poisonous materials.

normal bulbs use more mercury than regular bulbs though

Yea...obviously only a few people won’t make a difference...thats why the author is trying to spread the word about it. A world of cynics and skeptics is a world without change.

one can make the point that thought florescent lights save energy, they will slowly destroy your eyes. Also, if people would recycle plastic bags and stop using paper, we would never have to cut down a tree for bag purposes ever again. Aside from being more healthy I have no idea why sun chips would be better for the environment.

Its kind of contradictory with you creating this egg about helping the economy when earlier you made an egg on stealing... Hypocrites like you are whats wrong with the economy.

CleanseTheDoors

Ap 28, 2008 4:16 pm -
Its not so much about helping the economy as it is about saving you money.
Besides, people can have more than one interest. I enjoy stealing but I also care about the enviroment.
How am I a hipocrite for having several different interests?

i agreee they might be healthier but why are they ’better for the environment’?
5* anyways

For one they use natural ingredients which aren’t as harmful to the environment as other manufacturors.
Also, I chose these two companies as examples because they contribute to several environmental organizations.
