Easy watermarks in FireFox 3
(for use with eggs, tutorials, screenshots, etc.)
Intro
This egg utilises a new feature of FireFox 3 in a very unexpected way. It uses one of the features of FireFox 3’s Copy/Paste function to add a transparent watermark to a screenshot.
Pros
- easy
- takes hardly any time compared to actually watermarking it
- other sites will be less likely to c/p your eggs
- it’s faster than using an image editing program even if it is an original watermark
- only program needed is firefox (but you should have it anyway)
- you can use it for subliminal messaging
Cons
- some images don’t contrast well
- if it is a background image for a div element, you can’t copy it
Using the RE logo
(This won’t work for some websites that have their logo as a div background)
1. Have your program or other website open in a background tab.
2. Click in the middle of and drag the RE logo (or whatever you’re using) over either the program in the taskbar or over the tab.
3. Wait until that tab or program has popped up, and before letting go of the image, hit PrtSc (print screen).
The RE logo isn’t a great example because it has a light background.
4. Open paint, ctrl+v, crop, rinse, repeat.
Using your own logo
1. Make a logo with a black background in paint. I made mine 150 x 150.
2. Save it wherever you want as picture.png, but remember where you saved it.
3. Now in the same folder you saved it, create a new text document. Go into it and type:
Quote: [img src="picture.png"]
but replace the [ and ]s with greater than and less than (triangle brackets), then save it as whatever.html
4. Open whatever.html with firefox and use that as your watermark.
kuso is my bitch

I’d like to see you make a websote. |

 | Jun 22, 2008 10:42 am - Opera has done this far longer than Firefox has.
Not that I use Opera. Firefox 3 is annoying me because it crashes more, and when I close it normally it thinks it’s crashed... what’s up with that? Oh, well.
