Me and a friend go on bike rides alot but get bored sometimes of the places we go, but found these ruins in a park. I thought some of you might like to see them.
It takes about a half hour bike ride to get there from where we lived so quickly got here.
The first few photos show the ruins as a whole.
The Entrance gate. (Obviously not the original, was replaced a couple fo years ago)
A panorama looking from left of ruins to centre.
A panorama looking from centre to right.
We went straight to the left of the ruins as it had 2 towers and looked more interesting. We found it had several old style ovens used for bread.
I took a picture inside just too see it better
Looking at one of the towers
Inside one of the towers looking up. The steel rods inside where put there by the council so the tower wouldnt fall in. Also the staircase was gone completely. I think half of it had fallen down and then it had been removed for safety reasons because some stupid kids walk up there and jump off.
We found a cellar/basement next, there where signs all over about Poisenous plants in and around the place.
Another view of the cellar/basement
Another view of one of the towers, which looked impossible to get in.
An original doorway which looked good.
A chimney which had been blocked up, again by the council.
We then walked around to the chapel, but forgot to take photos of this. You can see it on one of the panoramas. Next to the chapel there was one of the poisenous plants there and a sign warning of it.
Walked around a bit more and found an entrance to the sewer system but was coverd over. It was pretty deep you could easily stand up down there.
The last tower with some original windows
So after riding around the park for a bit we cycled up old john which is a really steep big hill where you can see all over the area. I dont have a photo for this but maybe able to show you in a future egg. There is more on the park to explore.
Hope you enjoyed reading this |

 | Jul 22, 2008 2:33 pm - We went into the keep out area to properly see how deep it was, but couldnt get under the grate thing into the sewers. |

 | Jul 22, 2008 6:20 pm - Oh. Well 5 anyway :D |

 | Jul 22, 2008 8:28 pm - This was a fairly good exploration. 5* for you. |

 | Jul 23, 2008 2:38 am - Definately a 5 star egg.
Next time, focus on getting your horizons, well, horizontal.
Quite a few pictures, including the first and third are quite slanted.
Aside from that this egg kicks ass.
Not really an exploration, as this is a public place.
I love it anyway. 5 stars. |
